  1. 禍(화) 있을진저 피 城(성)이여, 그 속에서는 詭譎(궤휼)과 强暴(강포)가 가득하며 勒奪(늑탈)이 떠나지 아니하는도다
  2. 휙휙하는 채찍 소리, 굉굉하는 兵車(병거)바퀴 소리, 뛰는 말, 달리는 兵車(병거),
  3. 衝突(충돌)하는 騎兵(기병), 번쩍이는 칼, 번개 같은 槍(창), 殺戮(살륙) 當(당)한 떼, 큰 무더기 주검, 無數(무수)한 屍體(시체)여 사람이 그 屍體(시체)에 걸려 넘어지니
  4. 이는 魔術(마술)의 主人(주인)된 아리따운 妓生(기생)이 淫行(음행)을 많이 함을 因(인)함이라 그가 그 淫行(음행)으로 列國(렬국)을 迷惑(미혹)하고 그 魔術(마술)로 여러 族屬(족속)을 迷惑(미혹)하느니라
  5. 萬軍(만군)의 여호와의 말씀에 내가 네 對敵(대적)이 되어서 네 치마를 걷어쳐 네 얼굴에 이르게 하고 네 벌거벗은 것을 列國(렬국)에 보이며 네 부끄러운 곳을 列邦(열방)에 보일 것이요

  1. Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;
  2. The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.
  3. The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
  4. Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
  5. Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
  1. Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder, never without victims!
  2. The crack of whips, the clatter of wheels, galloping horses and jolting chariots!
  3. Charging cavalry, flashing swords and glittering spears! Many casualties, piles of dead, bodies without number, people stumbling over the corpses--
  4. all because of the wanton lust of a harlot, alluring, the mistress of sorceries, who enslaved nations by her prostitution and peoples by her witchcraft.
  5. "I am against you," declares the LORD Almighty. "I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show the nations your nakedness and the kingdoms your shame.
  1. 내가 또 可憎(가증)하고 더러운 것을 네 위에 던져 凌辱(릉욕)하여 너로 求景(구경)거리가 되게 하리니
  2. 그 때에 너를 보는 者(자)가 다 네게서 逃亡(도망)하며 이르기를 니느웨가 荒蕪(황무)하였도다 누가 爲(위)하여 哀哭(애곡)하며 내가 어디서 너를 慰勞(위로)할 者(자)를 求(구)하리요 하리라 하시도다
  3. 네가 어찌 노아몬보다 낫겠느냐 그는 江(강)들 사이에 있으므로 물이 둘렸으니 바다가 城壘(성루)가 되었고 바다가 城壁(성벽)이 되었으며
  4. 구스와 애굽이 그 힘이 되어 限(한)이 없었고 붓과 루빔이 그의 돕는 者(자)가 되었으나
  5. 그가 捕虜(포로)가 되어 사로잡혀 갔고 그 어린 아이들은 길 모퉁이 모퉁이에 메어침을 當(당)하여 부숴졌으며 그 尊貴(존귀)한 者(자)들은 제비 뽑혀 나뉘었고 그 모든 大人(대인)은 사슬에 結縛(결박)되었나니

  1. And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.
  2. And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
  3. Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?
  4. Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
  5. Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
  1. I will pelt you with filth, I will treat you with contempt and make you a spectacle.
  2. All who see you will flee from you and say, 'Nineveh is in ruins--who will mourn for her?' Where can I find anyone to comfort you?"
  3. Are you better than Thebes, situated on the Nile, with water around her? The river was her defense, the waters her wall.
  4. Cush and Egypt were her boundless strength; Put and Libya were among her allies.
  5. Yet she was taken captive and went into exile. Her infants were dashed to pieces at the head of every street. Lots were cast for her nobles, and all her great men were put in chains.
  1. 너도 醉(취)한바 되어 숨으리라 너도 對敵(대적)을 因(인)하여 避難處(피난처)를 찾아보리라
  2. 너의 모든 山城(산성)은 無花果(무화과)나무의 처음 익은 열매가 흔들기만 하면 먹는 者(자)의 입에 떨어짐과 같으리라
  3. 너의 中(중) 壯丁(장정)들은 女人(녀인)같고 너의 땅의 城門(성문)들은 너의 對敵(대적) 앞에 넓게 열리고 빗장들은 불에 타도다
  4. 너는 물을 길어 에워싸일 것을 豫備(예비)하며 너의 山城(산성)들을 堅固(견고)케 하며 진흙에 들어가서 흙을 밟아 벽돌 가마를 修理(수리)하라
  5. 거기서 불이 너를 삼키며 칼이 너를 베기를 늣의 먹는 것같이 하리라 네가 늣 같이 스스로 많게 할지어다 네가 메뚜기 같이 스스로 많게 할지어다

  1. Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
  2. All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
  3. Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.
  4. Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.
  5. There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
  1. You too will become drunk; you will go into hiding and seek refuge from the enemy.
  2. All your fortresses are like fig trees with their first ripe fruit; when they are shaken, the figs fall into the mouth of the eater.
  3. Look at your troops--they are all women! The gates of your land are wide open to your enemies; fire has consumed their bars.
  4. Draw water for the siege, strengthen your defenses! Work the clay, tread the mortar, repair the brickwork!
  5. There the fire will devour you; the sword will cut you down and, like grasshoppers, consume you. Multiply like grasshoppers, multiply like locusts!
  1. 네가 네 商賈(상고)를 하늘의 별보다 많게 하였으나 황충이 날개를 펴서 날아감과 같고
  2. 너의 方伯(방백)은 메뚜기같고 너의 大將(대장)은 큰 메뚜기 떼가 추운 날에는 울타리에 깃들였다가 해가 뜨면 날아감과 같으니 그 있는 곳을 알 수 없도다
  3. 앗수르 王(왕)이여 네 牧者(목자)가 자고 네 貴族(귀족)은 누워 쉬며 네 百姓(백성)은 山(산)들에 흩어지나 그들을 모을 사람이 없도다
  4. 너의 다친 것은 고칠 수 없고 네 傷處(상처)는 重(중)하도다 네 消息(소식)을 듣는 者(자)가 다 너를 因(인)하여 손뼉을 치나니 이는 네 惡行(악행)을 늘 받지 않은 者(자)가 없음이 아니냐

  1. Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.
  2. Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
  3. Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.
  4. There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
  1. You have increased the number of your merchants till they are more than the stars of the sky, but like locusts they strip the land and then fly away.
  2. Your guards are like locusts, your officials like swarms of locusts that settle in the walls on a cold day--but when the sun appears they fly away, and no one knows where.
  3. O king of Assyria, your shepherds slumber; your nobles lie down to rest. Your people are scattered on the mountains with no one to gather them.
  4. Nothing can heal your wound; your injury is fatal. Everyone who hears the news about you claps his hands at your fall, for who has not felt your endless cruelty?
