1. ^ㅗ그 後(후)에 암몬 子孫(자손)의 王(왕) 나하스가 죽고 그 아들이 代身(대신)하여 王(왕)이 되니
   
2. 다윗이 가로되 하눈의 아비 나하스가 前(전)에 내게 恩惠(은혜)를 베풀었으니 이제 내가 그 아들 하눈에게 恩惠(은혜)를 베풀리라 하고 使者(사자)를 보내어 그 아비 죽은 것을 조상하게 하니라 다윗의 信服(신복)들이 암몬 子孫(자손)의 땅에 이르러 하눈에게 나아가 조상하매
   
3. 암몬 子孫(자손)의 方伯(방백)들이 하눈에게 告(고)하되 王(왕)은 다윗이 조문사를 보낸 것이 王(왕)의 父親(부친)을 恭敬(공경)함인 줄로 여기시나이까 그 信服(신복)이 王(왕)에게 나아온 것이 이 땅을 엿보고 探知(탐지)하여 陷落(함락)시키고자 함이 아니니이까
   
4. 하눈이 이에 다윗의 信服(신복)들을 잡아 그 鬚髥(수염)을 깍고 그 衣服(의복)의 중동 볼기까지 자르고 돌려 보내매
   
5. 或(혹)이 다윗에게 가서 그 사람들의 當(당)한 일을 告(고)하니라 그 사람들이 甚(심)히 부끄러워하므로 다윗이 저희를 맞으러 보내어 이르기를 너희는 鬚髥(수염)이 자라기까지 여리고에 머물다가 돌아오라 하니라
   

1. DESPUÉS de estas cosas aconteció que murió Naas rey de los hijos de "Ammón," y reinó en su lugar su hijo.
   
2. Y dijo David: Haré misericordia con Hanán hijo de "Naas," porque también su padre hizo conmigo misericordia. Así David envió embajadores que lo consolasen de la muerte de su padre. Mas venidos los siervos de David en la tierra de los hijos de Ammón á "Hanán," para "consolarle,"
   
3. Los príncipes de los hijos de Ammón dijeron á Hanán: ¿A tu parecer honra David á tu "padre," que te ha enviado consoladores? ¿no vienen antes sus siervos á ti para "escudriñar," é "inquirir," y reconocer la tierra?
   
4. Entonces Hanán tomó los siervos de "David," y "rapólos," y cortóles los vestidos por "medio," hasta las "nalgas," y despachólos.
   
5. Fuéronse "pues," y dada que fué la nueva á David de aquellos "varones," él envió á "recibirlos," porque estaban muy afrentados. E hízoles decir el rey: Estaos en Jericó hasta que os crezca la "barba," y entonces volveréis.
   

1. In the course of time, Nahash king of the Ammonites died, and his son succeeded him as king.
   
2. David thought, "I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me." So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David's men came to Hanun in the land of the Ammonites to express sympathy to him,
   
3. the Ammonite nobles said to Hanun, "Do you think David is honoring your father by sending men to you to express sympathy? Haven't his men come to you to explore and spy out the country and overthrow it?"
   
4. So Hanun seized David's men, shaved them, cut off their garments in the middle at the buttocks, and sent them away.
   
5. When someone came and told David about the men, he sent messengers to meet them, for they were greatly humiliated. The king said, "Stay at Jericho till your beards have grown, and then come back."
   

6. 암몬 子孫(자손)이 自己(자기)가 다윗에게 밉게 한 줄 안지라 하눈이 암몬 子孫(자손)으로 더불어 銀(은) 一千(일천) 달란트를 ^ㅛ아람 나하라임과 아람마아가와 ^ㅜ소바에 보내어 兵車(병거)와 馬兵(마병)을 삯 내되
   
7. 곧 兵車(병거) 三萬(삼만) 二千乘(이천승)과 마아가 王(왕)과 그 百姓(백성)을 삯 내었더니 저희가 와서 ^ㅠ메드바 앞에 陣(진) 치매 암몬 子孫(자손)이 그 모든 城邑(성읍)으로 좇아 모여와서 싸우려 한지라
   
8. 다윗이 듣고 요압과 勇士(용사)의 온 무리를 보내었더니
   
9. 암몬 子孫(자손)은 나와서 城門(성문) 앞에 陣(진) 치고 도우러 온 여러 王(왕)은 따로 들에 있더라
   
10. 요압이 앞 뒤에 친 敵陣(적진)을 보고 이스라엘 뺀 者(자) 中(중)에서 또 빼서 아람 사람을 對(대)하여 陣(진) 치고
    

6. Y viendo los hijos de Ammón que se habían hecho odiosos á "David," Hanán y los hijos de Ammón enviaron mil talentos de "plata," para tomar á sueldo carros y gente de á caballo de Siria de los "ríos," y de la Siria de "Maachâ," y de Soba.
   
7. Y tomaron á sueldo treinta y dos mil "carros," y al rey de Maachâ y á su "pueblo," los cuales vinieron y asentaron su campo delante de Medeba. Y juntáronse también los hijos de Ammón de sus "ciudades," y vinieron á la guerra.
   
8. Oyéndolo "David," envió á Joab con todo el ejército de los hombres valientes.
   
9. Y los hijos de Ammón "salieron," y ordenaron su tropa á la entrada de la ciudad; y los reyes que habían "venido," estaban por sí en el campo.
   
10. Y viendo Joab que la haz de la batalla estaba contra él delante y á las "espaldas," escogió de todos los más aventajados que había en "Israel," y ordenó su escuadrón contra los Sirios.
    

6. When the Ammonites realized that they had become a stench in David's nostrils, Hanun and the Ammonites sent a thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and charioteers from Aram Naharaim, Aram Maacah and Zobah.
   
7. They hired thirty-two thousand chariots and charioteers, as well as the king of Maacah with his troops, who came and camped near Medeba, while the Ammonites were mustered from their towns and moved out for battle.
   
8. On hearing this, David sent Joab out with the entire army of fighting men.
   
9. The Ammonites came out and drew up in battle formation at the entrance to their city, while the kings who had come were by themselves in the open country.
   
10. Joab saw that there were battle lines in front of him and behind him; so he selected some of the best troops in Israel and deployed them against the Arameans.
    

11. 그 남은 무리는 그 아우 ^으아비새의 手下(수하)에 붙여 암몬 子孫(자손)을 對(대)하여 陣(진) 치게 하고
    
12. 가로되 萬一(만일) 아람 사람이 나보다 强(강)하면 네가 나를 돕고 萬一(만일) 암몬 子孫(자손)이 너보다 强(강)하면 내가 너를 도우리라
    
13. 너는 膽大(담대)하라 우리가 우리 百姓(백성)과 우리 하나님의 城邑(성읍)들을 爲(위)하여 膽大(담대)히 하자 여호와께서 善(선)히 여기시는 대로 行(행)하시기를 願(원)하노라 하고
    
14. 요압과 그 從者(종자)가 싸우려고 아람 사람 앞에 나아가니 저희가 그 앞에서 逃亡(도망)하고
    
15. 암몬 子孫(자손)은 아람 사람의 逃亡(도망)함을 보고 저희도 요압의 아우 아비새 앞에서 逃亡(도망)하여 城(성)으로 들어간지라 이에 요압이 예루살렘으로 돌아오니라
    

11. Puso luego el resto de la gente en mano de Abisai su "hermano," ordenándolos en batalla contra los Ammonitas.
    
12. Y dijo: Si los Siros fueren más fuertes que "yo," tú me salvarás; y si los Ammonitas fueren más fuertes que "tú," yo te salvaré.
    
13. Esfuérzate, y esforcémonos por nuestro "pueblo," y por las ciudades de nuestro Dios; y haga Jehová lo que bien le pareciere.
    
14. Acercóse luego Joab y el pueblo que tenía "consigo," para pelear contra los Siros; mas ellos huyeron delante de él.
    
15. Y los hijos de "Ammón," viendo que los Siros habían "huído," huyeron también ellos delante de Abisai su "hermano," y entráronse en la ciudad. Entonces Joab se volvió á Jerusalem.
    

11. He put the rest of the men under the command of Abishai his brother, and they were deployed against the Ammonites.
    
12. Joab said, "If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to rescue me; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will rescue you.
    
13. Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight."
    
14. Then Joab and the troops with him advanced to fight the Arameans, and they fled before him.
    
15. When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans were fleeing, they too fled before his brother Abishai and went inside the city. So Joab went back to Jerusalem.
    

16. 아람 사람이 自己(자기)가 이스라엘 앞에서 敗(패)하였음을 보고 使者(사자)를 보내어 江(강) 건너便(편)에 있는 아람 사람을 불러내니 ^이하닷에셀의 軍隊(군대) 長官(장관) ^ㅐ소박이 저희를 거느린지라
    
17. 或(혹)이 다윗에게 告(고)하매 다윗이 온 이스라엘을 모으고 요단을 건너 아람 사람에게 이르러 저희를 向(향)하여 陣(진)을 치니라 다윗이 아람 사람을 向(향)하여 陣(진)을 치매 저희가 다윗으로 더불어 싸우더니
    
18. 아람 사람이 이스라엘 앞에서 逃亡(도망)한지라 다윗이 아람 兵車(병거) ^ㄱ七千乘(칠천승)의 軍士(군사)와 步兵(보병) 四萬(사만)을 죽이고 또 軍隊(군대) 長官(장관) 소박을 죽이매
    
19. 하닷에셀의 信服(신복)이 自己(자기)가 이스라엘 앞에서 敗(패)하였음을 보고 다윗으로 더불어 和親(화친)하여 섬기고 이 後(후)로는 아람 사람이 암몬 子孫(자손) 돕기를 싫어하니라
    

16. Y viendo los Siros que habían caído delante de "Israel," enviaron "embajadores," y trajeron á los Siros que estaban de la otra parte del "río," cuyo capitán era "Sophach," general del ejército de Adarezer.
    
17. Luego que fué dado aviso á "David," juntó á todo "Israel," y pasando el Jordán vino á "ellos," y ordenó contra ellos su ejército. Y como David hubo ordenado su tropa contra "ellos," pelearon con él los Siros.
    
18. Mas el Siro huyó delante de Israel; y mató David de los Siros siete mil hombres de los "carros," y cuarenta mil hombres de á pie: asimismo mató á "Sophach," general del ejército.
    
19. Y viendo los Siros de Adarezer que habían caído delante de "Israel," concertaron paz con "David," y fueron sus siervos; y nunca más quiso el Siro ayudar á los hijos de Ammón.
    

16. After the Arameans saw that they had been routed by Israel, they sent messengers and had Arameans brought from beyond the River, with Shophach the commander of Hadadezer's army leading them.
    
17. When David was told of this, he gathered all Israel and crossed the Jordan; he advanced against them and formed his battle lines opposite them. David formed his lines to meet the Arameans in battle, and they fought against him.
    
18. But they fled before Israel, and David killed seven thousand of their charioteers and forty thousand of their foot soldiers. He also killed Shophach the commander of their army.
    
19. When the vassals of Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were not willing to help the Ammonites anymore.
