1. ^ㄱ이 일은 아하수에로 王(왕) 때에 된 것이니 아하수에로는 ^ㄴ印度(인도)로 구스까지 ^ㄷ一百(일백) 二十七(이십칠) 道(도)를 治理(치리)하는 王(왕)이라
   
2. 當時(당시)에 아하수에로 王(왕)이 ^ㄹ수산 宮(궁)에서 ^ㅁ卽位(즉위)하고
   
3. 位(위)에 있은지 三年(삼년)에 ^ㅂ그 모든 方伯(방백)과 臣僕(신복)을 爲(위)하여 잔치를 베푸니 바사와 메대의 將帥(장수)와 各(각) 道(도)의 貴族(귀족)과 方伯(방백)들이 다 王(왕) 앞에 있는지라
   
4. 王(왕)이 여러 날 곧 一百(일백) 八十日(팔십일) 동안에 그 榮華(영화)로운 나라의 富(부)함과 威嚴(위엄)의 赫赫(혁혁)함을 나타내니라
   
5. 이 날이 다하매 王(왕)이 또 都城(도성) 수산 大小(대소) 人民(인민)을 爲(위)하여 ^ㅅ王宮(왕궁) 後園(후원) 뜰에서 七日(칠일) 동안 잔치를 베풀새
   

1. Y ACONTECIO en los días de "Assuero," (el Assuero que reinó desde la India hasta la Etiopía sobre ciento veinte y siete "provincias,)"
   
2. Que en aquellos "días," asentado que fué el rey Assuero en la silla de su "reino," la cual estaba en Susán capital del "reino,"
   
3. En el tercer año de su reinado hizo banquete á todos sus príncipes y "siervos," teniendo delante de él la fuerza de Persia y de "Media," gobernadores y príncipes de "provincias,"
   
4. Para mostrar él las riquezas de la gloria de su "reino," y el lustre de la magnificencia de su "poder," por muchos "días," ciento y ochenta días.
   
5. Y cumplidos estos "días," hizo el rey banquete por siete días en el patio del huerto del palacio real á todo el "pueblo," desde el mayor hasta el menor que se halló en Susán capital del reino.
   

1. This is what happened during the time of Xerxes, the Xerxes who ruled over 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush:
   
2. At that time King Xerxes reigned from his royal throne in the citadel of Susa,
   
3. and in the third year of his reign he gave a banquet for all his nobles and officials. The military leaders of Persia and Media, the princes, and the nobles of the provinces were present.
   
4. For a full 180 days he displayed the vast wealth of his kingdom and the splendor and glory of his majesty.
   
5. When these days were over, the king gave a banquet, lasting seven days, in the enclosed garden of the king's palace, for all the people from the least to the greatest, who were in the citadel of Susa.
   

6. 白色(백색), 綠色(록색), 靑色(청색) 揮帳(휘장)을 紫色(자색) 가는 베줄로 大理石(대리석) 기둥 銀(은)고리에 매고 金(금)과 銀(은)으로 만든 ^ㅇ걸상을 花斑石(화반석), 白石(백석), 雲母石(운모석), 黑石(흑석)을 깐 땅에 陳設(진설)하고
   
7. 金盞(금잔)으로 마시게 하니 盞(잔)의 式樣(식양)이 各其(각기) 다르고 ^ㅈ王(왕)의 豊富(풍부)한대로 御酒(어주)가 限(한)이 없으며
   
8. 마시는 것도 規模(규모)가 있어 사람으로 抑止(억지)로 하지 않게 하니 이는 王(왕)이 모든 宮內(궁내) 官吏(관리)에게 命(명)하여 各(각) 사람으로 마음대로 하게 함이더라
   
9. 王后(왕후) 와스디도 아하수에로 王宮(왕궁)에서 婦女(부녀)들을 爲(위)하여 잔치를 베푸니라
   
10. 第(제) 七日(칠일)에 ^ㅊ王(왕)이 酒興(주흥)이 일어나서 御前(어전) 內侍(내시) 므후만과, 비스다와, ^ㅋ하르보나와, ^ㅌ빅다와, 아박다와, 세달과, 가르가스 일곱 사람을 命(명)하여
    

6. El pabellón era de "blanco," "verde," y "cárdeno," tendido sobre cuerdas de lino y púrpura en sortijas de plata y columnas de mármol: los reclinatorios de oro y de "plata," sobre losado de pórfido y de "mármol," y de alabastro y de jacinto.
   
7. Y daban á beber en vasos de "oro," y vasos diferentes unos de "otros," y mucho vino "real," conforme á la facultad del rey.
   
8. Y la bebida fué según esta ley: Que nadie constriñese; porque así lo había mandado el rey á todos los mayordomos de su casa; que se hiciese según la voluntad de cada uno.
   
9. Asimismo la reina Vasthi hizo banquete de "mujeres," en la casa real del rey Assuero.
   
10. El séptimo "día," estando el corazón del rey alegre del "vino," mandó á "Mehumán," y á "Biztha," y á "Harbona," y á "Bighta," y á "Abagtha," y á "Zetar," y á "Carcas," siete eunucos que servían delante del rey "Assuero,"
    

6. The garden had hangings of white and blue linen, fastened with cords of white linen and purple material to silver rings on marble pillars. There were couches of gold and silver on a mosaic pavement of porphyry, marble, mother-of-pearl and other costly stones.
   
7. Wine was served in goblets of gold, each one different from the other, and the royal wine was abundant, in keeping with the king's liberality.
   
8. By the king's command each guest was allowed to drink in his own way, for the king instructed all the wine stewards to serve each man what he wished.
   
9. Queen Vashti also gave a banquet for the women in the royal palace of King Xerxes.
   
10. On the seventh day, when King Xerxes was in high spirits from wine, he commanded the seven eunuchs who served him--Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar and Carcas--
    

11. 王后(왕후) 와스디를 請(청)하여 王后(왕후)의 ^ㅍ冕旒冠(면류관)을 整齊(정제)하고 王(왕)의 앞으로 나아오게 하여 그 아리따움을 뭇 百姓(백성)과 方伯(방백)들에게 보이게 하라 하니 이는 王后(왕후)의 容貌(용모)가 보기에 좋음이라
    
12. 그러나 王后(왕후) 와스디가 內侍(내시)의 傳(전)하는 王命(왕명)을 좇아 오기를 싫어하니 王(왕)이 震怒(진노)하여 中心(중심)이 불 붙는듯 하더라
    
13. 王(왕)이 ^ㅎ事例(사례)를 아는 ^ㅏ博士(박사)들에게 묻되 王(왕)이 規例(규례)와 法律(법률)을 아는 者(자)에게 묻는 前例(전례)가 있는데
    
14. 때에 ^ㅑ王(왕)에게 가까이 하여 王(왕)의 氣色(기색)을 살피며 나라 첫 자리에 앉은 者(자)는 바사와 메대의 ^ㅓ일곱 方伯(방백) 곧 가르스나와, 세달과, 아드마다와, 다시스와, 메레스와, 마르스나와, ^ㅕ므무간이라
    
15. 王后(왕후) 와스디가 內侍(내시)의 傳(전)하는 아하수에로 王命(왕명)을 좇지 아니하니 規例(규례)대로 하면 어떻게 處置(처치)할꼬
    

11. Que trajesen á la reina Vasthi delante del rey con la corona "regia," para mostrar á los pueblos y á los príncipes su hermosura; porque era linda de aspecto.
    
12. Mas la reina Vasthi no quiso comparecer á la orden del "rey," enviada por mano de los eunucos; y enojóse el rey muy "mucho," y encendióse en él su ira.
    
13. Preguntó entonces el rey á los sabios que sabían los "tiempos," (porque así era la costubre del rey para con todos los que sabían la ley y el derecho;
    
14. Y estaban junto á "él," "Carsena," y "Sethar," y "Admatha," y "Tharsis," y "Meres," y "Marsena," y "Memucán," siete príncipes de Persia y de Media que veían la cara del "rey," y se sentaban los primeros del reino:)
    
15. Qué se había de hacer según la ley con la reina "Vasthi," por cuanto no había cumplido la orden del rey "Assuero," enviada por mano de los eunucos.
    

11. to bring before him Queen Vashti, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her beauty to the people and nobles, for she was lovely to look at.
    
12. But when the attendants delivered the king's command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and burned with anger.
    
13. Since it was customary for the king to consult experts in matters of law and justice, he spoke with the wise men who understood the times
    
14. and were closest to the king--Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena and Memucan, the seven nobles of Persia and Media who had special access to the king and were highest in the kingdom.
    
15. "According to law, what must be done to Queen Vashti?" he asked. "She has not obeyed the command of King Xerxes that the eunuchs have taken to her."
    

16. 므무간이 王(왕)과 方伯(방백) 앞에서 對答(대답)하여 가로되 王后(왕후) 와스디가 王(왕)에게만 잘못할 뿐 아니라 아하수에로 王(왕)의 各(각) 道(도) 方伯(방백)과 뭇 百姓(백성)에게도 잘못하였나이다
    
17. 아하수에로 王(왕)이 命(명)하여 王后(왕후) 와스디를 請(청)하여도 오지 아니하였다 하는 王后(왕후)의 行爲(행위)의 所聞(소문)이 모든 婦女(부녀)에게 傳播(전파)되면 저희도 그 男便(남편)을 蔑視(멸시)할 것인즉
    
18. 오늘이라도 바사와 메대의 貴婦人(귀부인)들이 王后(왕후)의 行爲(행위)를 듣고 王(왕)의 모든 方伯(방백)에게 그렇게 말하리니 蔑視(멸시)와 忿怒(분노)가 많이 일어나리이다
    
19. 王(왕)이 萬一(만일) 善(선)히 여기실진대 와스디로 다시는 王(왕) 앞에 오지 못하게 하는 詔書(조서)를 내리되 바사와 메대의 法律(법률) 中(중)에 記錄(기록)하여 ^ㅗ變易(변역)함이 없게 하고 그 王后(왕후)의 位(위)를 저보다 나은 사람에게 주소서
    
20. 王(왕)의 詔書(조서)가 이 廣大(광대)한 全國(전국)에 頒布(반포)되면 貴賤(귀천)을 無論(무론)하고 ^ㅛ모든 婦女(부녀)가 그 男便(남편)을 尊敬(존경)하리이다
    

16. Y dijo Memucán delante del rey y de los príncipes: No solamente contra el rey ha pecado la reina "Vasthi," sino contra todos los "príncipes," y contra todos los pueblos que hay en todas las provincias del rey Assuero.
    
17. Porque este hecho de la reina pasará á noticia de todas las "mujeres," para hacerles tener en poca estima á sus "maridos," diciendo: El rey Assuero mandó traer delante de sí á la reina "Vasthi," y ella no vino.
    
18. Y entonces dirán esto las señoras de Persia y de Media que oyeren el hecho de la "reina," á todos los príncipes del rey: y habrá mucho menosprecio y enojo.
    
19. Si parece bien al "rey," salga mandamiento real delante de "él," y escríbase entre las leyes de Persia y de "Media," y no sea traspasado: Que no venga más Vasthi delante del rey Assuero: y dé el rey su reino á su compañera que sea mejor que ella.
    
20. Y el mandamiento que hará el rey será oído en todo su "reino," aunque es "grande," y todas las mujeres darán honra á sus "maridos," desde el mayor hasta el menor.
    

16. Then Memucan replied in the presence of the king and the nobles, "Queen Vashti has done wrong, not only against the king but also against all the nobles and the peoples of all the provinces of King Xerxes.
    
17. For the queen's conduct will become known to all the women, and so they will despise their husbands and say, 'King Xerxes commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, but she would not come.'
    
18. This very day the Persian and Median women of the nobility who have heard about the queen's conduct will respond to all the king's nobles in the same way. There will be no end of disrespect and discord.
    
19. "Therefore, if it pleases the king, let him issue a royal decree and let it be written in the laws of Persia and Media, which cannot be repealed, that Vashti is never again to enter the presence of King Xerxes. Also let the king give her royal position to someone else who is better than she.
    
20. Then when the king's edict is proclaimed throughout all his vast realm, all the women will respect their husbands, from the least to the greatest."
    

21. 王(왕)과 方伯(방백)들이 그 말을 善(선)히 여긴지라 王(왕)이 므무간의 말대로 行(행)하여
    
22. ^ㅜ各(각) 道(도) 各(각) 百姓(백성)의 文字(문자)와 方言(방언)대로 모든 道(도)에 詔書(조서)를 내려 이르기를 男便(남편)으로 그 집을 主管(주관)하게 하고 自己(자기) 民族(민족)의 方言(방언)대로 말하게 하라 하였더라
    

21. Y plugo esta palabra en ojos del rey y de los "príncipes," é hizo el rey conforme al dicho de Memucán;
    
22. Pues envió letras á todas la provincias del "rey," á cada provincia conforme á su "escribir," y á cada pueblo conforme á su "lenguaje," diciendo que todo hombre fuese señor en su casa; y háblese esto según la lengua de su pueblo.
    

21. The king and his nobles were pleased with this advice, so the king did as Memucan proposed.
    
22. He sent dispatches to all parts of the kingdom, to each province in its own script and to each people in its own language, proclaiming in each people's tongue that every man should be ruler over his own household.
