1. ^ㅇ많은 날을 지내고 第(제) 三年(삼년)에 여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 臨(임)하여 가라사대 너는 가서 아합에게 보이라 내가 비를 地面(지면)에 내리리라
   
2. 엘리야가 아합에게 보이려고 가니 그 때에 사마리아에 饑饉(기근)이 甚(심)하였더라
   
3. 아합이 ^ㅈ宮內(궁내) 大臣(대신) 오바댜를 불렀으니 이 오바댜는 크게 여호와를 敬畏(경외)하는 者(자)라
   
4. ^ㅊ이세벨이 여호와의 先知者(선지자)들을 滅(멸)할 때에 오바댜가 先知者(선지자) 一百人(일백인)을 가져 五十人(오십인)씩 窟(굴)에 숨기고 떡과 물을 먹였었더라
   
5. 아합이 오바댜에게 이르되 이 땅의 모든 물 根源(근원)과 모든 내로 가자 或時(혹시) 꼴을 얻으리라 그러면 말과 노새를 살리리니 짐승을 다 잃지 않게 되리라 하고
   

1. PASADOS muchos "días," fué palabra de Jehová á Elías en el tercer "año," diciendo: "Ve," muéstrate á "Achâb," y yo daré lluvia sobre la haz de la tierra.
   
2. Fué pues Elías á mostrarse á Achâb. Había á la sazón grande hambre en Samaria.
   
3. Y Achâb llamó á Abdías su "mayordomo," el cual Abdías era en grande manera temeroso de Jehová;
   
4. Porque cuando Jezabel destruía á los profetas de "Jehová," Abdías tomó cien "profetas," los cuales escondió de cincuenta en cincuenta por "cuevas," y sustentólos á pan y agua.
   
5. Y dijo Achâb á Abdías: Ve por el país á todas las fuentes de "aguas," y á todos los arroyos; que acaso hallaremos grama con que conservemos la vida á los caballos y á las "acémilas," para que no nos quedemos sin bestias.
   

1. After a long time, in the third year, the word of the LORD came to Elijah: "Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land."
   
2. So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria,
   
3. and Ahab had summoned Obadiah, who was in charge of his palace. (Obadiah was a devout believer in the LORD.
   
4. While Jezebel was killing off the LORD'S prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water.)
   
5. Ahab had said to Obadiah, "Go through the land to all the springs and valleys. Maybe we can find some grass to keep the horses and mules alive so we will not have to kill any of our animals."
   

6. 두사람이 두루 다닐 땅을 나누어 아합은 홀로 이 길로 가고 오바댜는 홀로 저 길로 가니라
   
7. 오바댜가 길에 있을 때에 엘리야가 저를 만난지라 저가 알아보고 엎드려 말하되 내 主(주) 엘리야여 當身(당신)이시니이까
   
8. 對答(대답)하되 그러하다 가서 네 主(주)에게 告(고)하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라
   
9. 가로되 내가 무슨 罪(죄)를 犯(범)하였기에 當身(당신)이 當身(당신)의 종을 아합의 손에 붙여 죽이게 하려 하시나이까
   
10. 當身(당신)의 ^ㅋ하나님 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 盟誓(맹서)하노니 내 主(주)께서 사람을 보내어 當身(당신)을 찾지 아니한 族屬(족속)이나 나라가 없었는데 저희가 말하기를 엘리야가 없다 하면 그 나라와 그 族屬(족속)으로 當身(당신)을 보지 못하였다는 盟誓(맹서)를 하게 하였거늘
    

6. Y partieron entre sí el país para recorrerlo: Achâb fué de por sí por un "camino," y Abdías fué separadamente por otro.
   
7. Y yendo Abdías por el "camino," topóse con Elías; y como le "conoció," postróse sobre su "rostro," y dijo: ¿No eres tú mi señor Elías?
   
8. Y él respondió: Yo soy; "ve," di á tu amo: He aquí Elías.
   
9. Pero él dijo: ¿En qué he "pecado," para que tú entregues tu siervo en mano de Achâb para que me mate?
   
10. Vive Jehová tu "Dios," que no ha habido nación ni reino donde mi señor no haya enviado á buscarte; y respondiendo ellos: No está "aquí," él ha conjurado á reinos y naciones si no te han hallado.
    

6. So they divided the land they were to cover, Ahab going in one direction and Obadiah in another.
   
7. As Obadiah was walking along, Elijah met him. Obadiah recognized him, bowed down to the ground, and said, "Is it really you, my lord Elijah?"
   
8. "Yes," he replied. "Go tell your master, 'Elijah is here.'"
   
9. "What have I done wrong," asked Obadiah, "that you are handing your servant over to Ahab to be put to death?
   
10. As surely as the LORD your God lives, there is not a nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to look for you. And whenever a nation or kingdom claimed you were not there, he made them swear they could not find you.
    

11. 이제 當身(당신)의 말씀이 가서 네 主(주)에게 告(고)하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라 하시니
    
12. 내가 當身(당신)을 떠나간 後(후)에 ^ㅌ여호와의 神(신)이 나의 알지 못하는 곳으로 當身(당신)을 이끌어 가시리니 내가 가서 아합에게 告(고)하였다가 저가 當身(당신)을 찾지 못하면 내가 죽임을 當(당)하리이다 當身(당신)의 종은 어려서부터 여호와를 敬畏(경외)하는 者(자)라
    
13. ^ㅍ이세벨이 여호와의 先知者(선지자)들을 죽일 때에 내가 여호와의 先知者(선지자) 中(중)에 一百人(일백인)을 五十人(오십인)씩 窟(굴)에 숨기고 떡과 물로 먹인 일이 내 主(주)께 들리지 아니하였나이까
    
14. 이제 當身(당신)의 말씀이 가서 네 主(주)에게 告(고)하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라 하시니 그리하면 저가 나를 죽이리이다
    
15. 엘리야가 이르되 내가 모시는 萬軍(만군)의 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 盟誓(맹서)하노니 내가 오늘날 아합에게 보이리라
    

11. ¿Y ahora tú dices: "Ve," di á tu amo: Aquí está Elías?
    
12. Y acontecerá "que," luego que yo me haya partido de "ti," el espíritu de Jehová te llevará donde yo no sepa; y viniendo "yo," y dando las nuevas á "Achâb," y no hallándote "él," me matará; y tu siervo teme á Jehová desde su mocedad.
    
13. ¿No ha sido dicho á mi señor lo que "hice," cuando Jezabel mataba á los profetas de Jehová que escondí cien: varones de los profetas de Jehová: que escondí cien varones de los profetas de Jehová de cincuenta en cincuenta en "cuevas," y los mantuve á pan y agua?
    
14. ¿Y ahora dices tú: "Ve," di á tu amo: Aquí está Elías: para que él me mate?
    
15. Y díjole Elías: Vive Jehová de los "ejércitos," delante del cual "estoy," que hoy me mostraré á él.
    

11. But now you tell me to go to my master and say, 'Elijah is here.'
    
12. I don't know where the Spirit of the LORD may carry you when I leave you. If I go and tell Ahab and he doesn't find you, he will kill me. Yet I your servant have worshiped the LORD since my youth.
    
13. Haven't you heard, my lord, what I did while Jezebel was killing the prophets of the LORD? I hid a hundred of the LORD'S prophets in two caves, fifty in each, and supplied them with food and water.
    
14. And now you tell me to go to my master and say, 'Elijah is here.' He will kill me!"
    
15. Elijah said, "As the LORD Almighty lives, whom I serve, I will surely present myself to Ahab today."
    

16. 오바댜가 가서 아합을 만나 告(고)하매 아합이 엘리야를 만나려 하여 가다가
    
17. 엘리야를 볼 때에 저에게 이르되 이스라엘을 ^ㅎ괴롭게 하는 者(자)여 ^ㅏ네냐
    
18. 저가 對答(대답)하되 내가 이스라엘을 괴롭게 한 것이 아니라 當身(당신)과 當身(당신)의 아비의 집이 괴롭게 하였으니 이는 ^ㅑ여호와의 命令(명령)을 버렸고 ^ㅓ當身(당신)이 바알들을 좇았음이라
    
19. 그런즉 보내어 온 이스라엘과 ^ㅕ이세벨의 床(상)에서 먹는 바알의 先知者(선지자) ^ㅗ四百(사백) 五十人(오십인)과 ^ㅛ아세라의 先知者(선지자) 四百人(사백인)을 ^ㅜ갈멜山(산)으로 모아 내게로 나오게 하소서
    
20. 아합이 이에 이스라엘 모든 子孫(자손)에게로 보내어 先知者(선지자)들을 갈멜山(산)으로 모으니라
    

16. Entonces Abdías fué á encontrarse con "Achâb," y dióle el aviso; y Achâb vino á encontrarse con Elías.
    
17. Y como Achâb vió á "Elías," díjole Achâb: ¿Eres tú el que alborotas á Israel?
    
18. Y él respondió: Yo no he alborotado á "Israel," sino tú y la casa de tu "padre," dejando los mandamientos de "Jehová," y siguiendo á los Baales.
    
19. Envía pues ahora y júntame á todo Israel en el monte de "Carmelo," y los cuatrocientos y cincuenta profetas de "Baal," y los cuatrocientos profetas de los "bosques," que comen de la mesa de Jezabel.
    
20. Entonces Achâb envió á todos los hijos de "Israel," y juntó los profetas en el monte de Carmelo.
    

16. So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
    
17. When he saw Elijah, he said to him, "Is that you, you troubler of Israel?"
    
18. "I have not made trouble for Israel," Elijah replied. "But you and your father's family have. You have abandoned the LORD'S commands and have followed the Baals.
    
19. Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."
    
20. So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel.
    

21. 엘리야가 모든 百姓(백성)에게 가까이 나아가 이르되 너희가 어느 때까지 ^ㅠ두 사이에서 머뭇머뭇 하려느냐 ^으여호와가 萬一(만일) 하나님이면 그를 좇고 바알이 萬一(만일) 하나님이면 그를 좇을지니라 하니 百姓(백성)이 한 말도 對答(대답)지 아니하는지라
    
22. 엘리야가 百姓(백성)에게 이르되 여호와의 先知者(선지자)는 ^이나만 홀로 남았으나 바알의 先知者(선지자)는 ^ㅐ四百(사백) 五十人(오십인)이로다
    
23. 그런즉 두 송아지를 우리에게 가져오게 하고 저희는 한 송아지를 擇(택)하여 脚(각)을 떠서 나무 위에 놓고 불은 놓지 말며 나도 한 송아지를 잡아 나무 위에 놓고 불은 놓지 말고
    
24. 너희는 너희 神(신)의 이름을 부르라 나는 여호와의 이름을 부르리니 이에 ^ㄱ불로 應答(응답)하는 神(신) 그가 하나님이니라 百姓(백성)이 다 對答(대답)하되 그 말이 옳도다
    
25. 엘리야가 바알의 先知者(선지자)들에게 이르되 너희는 많으니 먼저 한 송아지를 擇(택)하여 잡고 너희 神(신)의 이름을 부르라 그러나 불을 놓지 말라
    

21. Y acercándose Elías á todo el "pueblo," dijo: ¿Hasta cuándo claudicaréis vosotros entre dos pensamientos? Si Jehová es "Dios," seguidle; y si "Baal," id en pos de él. Y el pueblo no respondió palabra.
    
22. Y Elías tornó á decir al pueblo: Sólo yo he quedado profeta de Jehová; mas de los profetas de Baal hay cuatrocientos y cincuenta hombres.
    
23. Dénsenos pues dos "bueyes," y escójanse ellos el "uno," y córtenlo en "pedazos," y pónganlo sobre "leña," mas no pongan fuego debajo; y yo aprestaré el otro "buey," y pondrélo sobre "leña," y ningún fuego pondré debajo.
    
24. Invocad luego vosotros en el nombre de vuestros "dioses," y yo invocaré en el nombre de Jehová: y el Dios que respondiere por "fuego," ése sea Dios. Y todo el pueblo "respondió," diciendo: Bien dicho.
    
25. Entonces Elías dijo á los profetas de Baal: Escogeos el un "buey," y haced "primero," pues que vosotros sois los más: é invocad en el nombre de vuestros "dioses," mas no pongáis fuego debajo.
    

21. Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing.
    
22. Then Elijah said to them, "I am the only one of the LORD'S prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.
    
23. Get two bulls for us. Let them choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it.
    
24. Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire--he is God." Then all the people said, "What you say is good."
    
25. Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire."
    

26. 저희가 그 받는 송아지를 取(취)하여 잡고 아침부터 낮까지 바알의 이름을 불러 가로되 바알이여 우리에게 應答(응답)하소서 하나 아무 소리도 없으므로 저희가 그 쌓은 壇(단) 周圍(주위)에서 뛰놀더라
    
27. 午正(오정)에 이르러는 엘리야가 저희를 嘲弄(조롱)하여 가로되 큰 소리로 부르라 저는 神(신)인즉 默想(묵상)하고 있는지, 或(혹) 暫間(잠간) 나갔는지, 或(혹) 길을 行(행)하는지, 或(혹) 잠이 들어서 깨워야 할 것인지 하매
    
28. 이에 저희가 큰 소리로 부르고 그 規例(규례)를 따라 피가 흐르기까지 칼과 槍(창)으로 ^ㄴ그 몸을 傷(상)하게 하더라
    
29. 이같이 하여 午正(오정)이 지났으나 저희가 오히려 嗔言(진언)을 하여 ^ㄷ저녁 素祭(소제) 드릴 때까지 이를지라도 아무 소리도 없고 아무 應答(응답)하는 者(자)도 없고 아무 돌아보는 者(자)도 없더라
    
30. 엘리야가 모든 百姓(백성)을 向(향)하여 이르되 내게로 가까이 오라 百姓(백성)이 다 저에게 가까이 오매 저가 ^ㄹ무너진 여호와의 壇(단)을 修築(수축)하되
    

26. Y ellos tomaron el buey que les fué "dado," y "aprestáronlo," é invocaron en el nombre de Baal desde la mañana hasta el medio "día," diciendo: "¡Baal," respóndenos! Mas no había "voz," ni quien respondiese; entre "tanto," ellos andaban saltando cerca del altar que habían hecho.
    
27. Y aconteció al medio "día," que Elías se burlaba de "ellos," diciendo: Gritad en alta "voz," que dios es: quizá está "conversando," ó tiene algún "empeño," ó va de camino; acaso "duerme," y despertará.
    
28. Y ellos clamaban á grandes "voces," y sajábanse con cuchillos y con lancetas conforme á su "costumbre," hasta chorrear la sangre sobre ellos.
    
29. Y como pasó el medio "día," y ellos profetizaran hasta el tiempo del sacrificio del "presente," y no había "voz," ni quien respondiese ni escuchase;
    
30. Elías dijo entonces á todo el pueblo: Acercaos á mí. Y todo el pueblo se llegó á él: y él reparó el altar de Jehová que estaba arruinado.
    

26. So they took the bull given them and prepared it. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. "O Baal, answer us!" they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.
    
27. At noon Elijah began to taunt them. "Shout louder!" he said. "Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened."
    
28. So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed.
    
29. Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no response, no one answered, no one paid attention.
    
30. Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come here to me." They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the LORD, which was in ruins.
    

31. 야곱의 아들들의 支派(지파)의 數爻(수효)를 따라 열 두 돌을 取(취)하니 이 야곱은 여호와께서 옛적에 저에게 臨(임)하여 이르시기를 ^ㅁ네 이름을 이스라엘이라 하리라 하신 者(자)더라
    
32. 저가 여호와의 이름을 依支(의지)하여 그 돌로 壇(단)을 쌓고 壇(단)으로 돌아가며 穀食(곡식) 種子(종자) 두 세아를 容納(용납)할 만한 도랑을 만들고
    
33. ^ㅂ또 나무를 벌이고 송아지의 脚(각)을 떠서 나무 위에 놓고 이르되 桶(통) 넷에 물을 채워다가 ^ㅅ燔祭物(번제물)과 나무위에 부으라 하고
    
34. 또 이르되 다시 그리하라 하여 다시 그리하니 또 이르되 세番(번) 그리하라 하여 세番(번) 그리하니
    
35. 물이 壇(단)으로 두루 흐르고 도랑에도 물이 가득하게 되었더라
    

31. Y tomando Elías doce "piedras," conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de "Jacob," al cual había sido palabra de "Jehová," diciendo: Israel será tu nombre;
    
32. Edificó con las piedras un altar en el nombre de Jehová: después hizo una reguera alrededor del "altar," cuanto cupieran dos satos de simiente.
    
33. Compuso luego la "leña," y cortó el buey en "pedazos," y púsolo sobre la leña.
    
34. Y dijo: Henchid cuatro cántaros de "agua," y derramadla sobre el holocausto y sobre la leña. Y dijo: Hacedlo otra vez; y otra vez lo hicieron. Dijo aún: Hacedlo la tercera vez; é hiciéronlo la tercera vez.
    
35. De manera que las aguas corrían alrededor del altar; y había también henchido de agua la reguera.
    

31. Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, "Your name shall be Israel."
    
32. With the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs of seed.
    
33. He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, "Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood."
    
34. "Do it again," he said, and they did it again. "Do it a third time," he ordered, and they did it the third time.
    
35. The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench.
    

36. ^ㅇ저녁 素祭(소제) 드릴 때에 이르러 先知者(선지자) 엘리야가 나아가서 말하되 아브라함과 이삭과 이스라엘의 ^ㅈ하나님 여호와여 ^ㅊ主(주)께서 이스라엘 中(중)에서 하나님이 되심과 내가 主(주)의 종이 됨과 내가 ^ㅋ主(주)의 말씀대로 이 모든 일을 行(행)하는 것을 오늘날 알게 하옵소서
    
37. 여호와여 내게 應答(응답)하옵소서 내게 應答(응답)하옵소서 이 百姓(백성)으로 主(주) 여호와는 하나님이신 것과 主(주)는 저희의 마음으로 돌이키게 하시는 것을 알게 하옵소서 하매
    
38. ^ㅌ이에 여호와의 불이 내려서 燔祭物(번제물)과 나무와 돌과 흙을 태우고 또 도랑의 물을 핥은지라
    
39. 모든 百姓(백성)이 보고 엎드려 말하되 ^ㅍ여호와, 그는 하나님이시로다 여호와 그는 하나님이시로다 하니
    
40. 엘리야가 저희에게 이르되 바알의 先知者(선지자)를 잡되 하나도 逃亡(도망)하지 못하게 하라 하매 곧 잡은지라 엘리야가 저희를 ^ㅎ기손 시내로 내려다가 ^ㅏ거기서 죽이니라
    

36. Y como llegó la hora de ofrecerse el "holocausto," llegóse el profeta "Elías," y dijo: Jehová Dios de "Abraham," de "Isaac," y de "Israel," sea hoy manifiesto que tú eres Dios en "Israel," y que yo soy tu "siervo," y que por mandato tuyo he hecho todas estas cosas.
    
37. Respóndeme, "Jehová," respóndeme; para que conozca este pueblo que "tú," oh "Jehová," eres el "Dios," y que tú volviste atrás el corazón de ellos.
    
38. Entonces cayó fuego de "Jehová," el cual consumió el "holocausto," y la "leña," y las "piedras," y el "polvo," y aun lamió las aguas que estaban en la reguera.
    
39. Y viéndolo todo el "pueblo," cayeron sobre sus "rostros," y dijeron: ¡Jehová es el Dios! ¡Jehová es el Dios!
    
40. Y díjoles Elías: Prended á los profetas de "Baal," que no escape ninguno. Y ellos los prendieron; y llevólos Elías al arroyo de "Cisón," y allí los degolló.
    

36. At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: "O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.
    
37. Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again."
    
38. Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
    
39. When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, "The LORD--he is God! The LORD--he is God!"
    
40. Then Elijah commanded them, "Seize the prophets of Baal. Don't let anyone get away!" They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.
    

41. 엘리야가 아합에게 이르되 올라가서 먹고 마시소서 큰 비의 소리가 있나이다
    
42. 아합이 먹고 마시러 올라가니라 엘리야가 갈멜山(산) 꼭대기로 올라가서 ^ㅑ땅에 꿇어 엎드려 그 얼굴을 무릎 사이에 넣고
    
43. 그 使喚(사환)에게 이르되 올라가 바다 便(편)을 바라보라 저가 올라가 바라 보고 告(고)하되 아무것도 없나이다 가로되 일곱番(번)까지 다시 가라
    
44. 일곱番(번)째 이르러서는 저가 告(고)하되 ^ㅓ바다에서 사람의 손만한 작은 구름이 일어나나이다 가로되 올라가 아합에게 告(고)하기를 비에 막히지 아니하도록 馬車(마차)를 갖추고 내려가소서 하라 하니라
    
45. 조금 後(후)에 구름과 바람이 일어나서 하늘이 캄캄하여지며 큰 비가 내리는지라 아합이 마차를 타고 ^ㅕ이스르엘로 가니
    

41. Y entonces Elías dijo á Achâb: "Sube," come y bebe; porque una grande lluvia suena.
    
42. Y Achâb subió á comer y á beber. Y Elías subió á la cumbre del Carmelo; y postrándose en "tierra," puso su rostro entre las rodillas.
    
43. Y dijo á su criado: Sube "ahora," y mira hacia la mar. Y él "subió," y "miró," y dijo: No hay nada. Y él le volvió á decir: Vuelve siete veces.
    
44. Y á la séptima vez dijo: Yo veo una pequeña nube como la palma de la mano de un "hombre," que sube de la mar. Y él dijo: "Ve," y di á Achâb: Unce y "desciende," porque la lluvia no te ataje.
    
45. Y "aconteció," estando en "esto," que los cielos se oscurecieron con nubes y viento; y hubo una gran lluvia. Y subiendo "Achâb," vino á Jezreel.
    

41. And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain."
    
42. So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.
    
43. "Go and look toward the sea," he told his servant. And he went up and looked. "There is nothing there," he said. Seven times Elijah said, "Go back."
    
44. The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea." So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.'"
