  1. 그 後(후)에 아하수에로王(왕)의 怒(노)가 그치매 와스디와 그의 行(행)한 일과 그에 對(대)하여 내린 詔書(조서)를 생각하거늘
  2. 王(왕)의 侍臣(시신)이 아뢰되 王(왕)은 王(왕)을 爲(위)하여 아리따운 處女(처녀)들을 求(구)하게 하시되
  3. 全國(전국) 各(각) 道(도)에 官吏(관리)를 命令(명령)하여 아리따운 處女(처녀)를 다 都城(도성) 수산으로 모아 後宮(후궁)으로 들여 宮女(궁녀)를 主管(주관)하는 內侍(내시) 헤개의 손에 붙여 그 몸을 淨潔(정결)케 하는 物品(물품)을 주게 하시고

  5. Es war aber ein jüdischer Mann zu Schloß "Susan," der hieß "Mardochai," ein Sohn "Jairs," des Sohnes "Simeis," des Sohnes des "Kis," ein "Benjaminiter,"
  1. Later when the anger of King Xerxes had subsided, he remembered Vashti and what she had done and what he had decreed about her.
  2. Then the king's personal attendants proposed, "Let a search be made for beautiful young virgins for the king.
  3. Let the king appoint commissioners in every province of his realm to bring all these beautiful girls into the harem at the citadel of Susa. Let them be placed under the care of Hegai, the king's eunuch, who is in charge of the women; and let beauty treatments be given to them.
  4. Then let the girl who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti." This advice appealed to the king, and he followed it.
  5. Now there was in the citadel of Susa a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin, named Mordecai son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish,

  3. 王(왕)의 詔命(조명)이 頒布(반포)되매 處女(처녀)들이 都城(도성) 수산에 많이 모여 헤개의 手下(수하)에 나아갈 때에 에스더도 王宮(왕궁)으로 이끌려 가서 宮女(궁녀)를 主管(주관)하는 헤개의 手下(수하)에 屬(속)하니
  4. 헤개가 이 處女(처녀)를 기뻐하여 恩惠(은혜)를 베풀어 몸을 淨潔(정결)케 할 物品(물품)과 日用品(일용품)을 곧 주며 또 王宮(왕궁)에서 依例(의례)히 주는 일곱 宮女(궁녀)를 주고 에스더와 그 宮女(궁녀)들을 後宮(후궁) 아름다운 處所(처소)로 옮기더라
  5. 에스더가 自己(자기)의 民族(민족)과 宗族(종족)을 告(고)하지 아니하니 이는 모르드개가 命(명)하여 告(고)하지 말라 하였음이라

  1. der mit weggeführt war von "Jerusalem," da "Jechonja," der König "Juda's," weggeführt "ward," welchen "Nebukadnezar," der König zu "Babel," wegführte.
  2. Und er war ein Vormund der "Hadassa," das ist "Esther," eine Tochter seines Oheims; denn sie hatte weder Vater noch Mutter. Und sie war eine schöne und feine Dirne. Und da ihr Vater und ihre Mutter "starb," nahm sie Mardochai auf zur Tochter.
  3. Da nun das Gebot und Gesetz des Königs laut ward und viel Dirnen zuhaufe gebracht wurden gen Schloß Susan unter die Hand "Hegais," ward Esther auch genommen zu des Königs Hause unter die Hand "Hegais," des Hüters der Weiber.
  4. Und die Dirne gefiel "ihm," und sie fand Barmherzigkeit vor ihm. Und er eilte mit ihrem "Schmuck," daß er ihr ihren Teil gäbe und sieben feine Dirnen von des Königs Hause dazu. Und er tat sie mit ihren Dirnen an den besten Ort im Frauenhaus.
  5. Und Esther sagte ihm nicht an ihr Volk und ihre Freundschaft; denn Mardochai hatte ihr "geboten," sie sollte es nicht ansagen.

  2. Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This girl, who was also known as Esther, was lovely in form and features, and Mordecai had taken her as his own daughter when her father and mother died.
  3. When the king's order and edict had been proclaimed, many girls were brought to the citadel of Susa and put under the care of Hegai. Esther also was taken to the king's palace and entrusted to Hegai, who had charge of the harem.
  4. The girl pleased him and won his favor. Immediately he provided her with her beauty treatments and special food. He assigned to her seven maids selected from the king's palace and moved her and her maids into the best place in the harem.
  5. Esther had not revealed her nationality and family background, because Mordecai had forbidden her to do so.
  1. 모르드개가 날마다 後宮(후궁) 뜰 앞으로 往來(왕래)하며 에스더의 安否(안부)와 어떻게 될 것을 알고자 하더라
  2. 處女(처녀)마다 次例(차례)대로 아하수에로 王(왕)에게 나아가기 前(전)에 女子(녀자)에 對(대)하여 定(정)한 規例(규례)대로 열 두 달 동안을 行(행)하되 여섯달은 沒藥(몰약) 기름을 쓰고 여섯달은 香品(향품)과 女子(녀자)에게 쓰는 다른 物品(물품)을 써서 몸을 淨潔(정결)케 하는 期限(기한)을 마치며
  3. 處女(처녀)가 王(왕)에게 나아갈 때에는 그 求(구)하는 것을 다 주어 後宮(후궁)에서 王宮(왕궁)으로 가지고 가게 하고
  4. 저녁이면 갔다가 아침에는 둘째 後宮(후궁)으로 돌아와서 妃嬪(비빈)을 主管(주관)하는 內侍(내시) 사아스가스의 手下(수하)에 屬(속)하고 王(왕)이 저를 기뻐하여 그 이름을 부르지 아니하면 다시 王(왕)에게 나아가지 못하더라

  1. Und Mardochai wandelte alle Tage vor dem Hofe am "Frauenhaus," daß er "erführe," ob's Esther wohl ginge und was ihr geschehen würde.
  2. Wenn aber die bestimmte Zeit einer jeglichen Dirne "kam," daß sie zum König Ahasveros kommen "sollte," nachdem sie zwölf Monate im Frauen-Schmücken gewesen war (denn ihr Schmücken mußte soviel Zeit "haben," nämlich sechs Monate mit Balsam und Myrrhe und sechs Monate mit guter "Spezerei," so waren denn die Weiber geschmückt): {~}
  3. alsdann ging die Dirne zum König und "alles," was sie "wollte," mußte man ihr "geben," daß sie damit vom Frauenhaus zu des Königs Hause ginge.
  4. Und wenn eine des Abends "hineinkam," die ging des Morgens von ihm in das andere Frauenhaus unter die Hand des "Saasgas," des Königs "Kämmerers," des Hüters der Kebsweiber Und sie durfte nicht wieder zum König "kommen," es lüstete denn den König und er ließ sie mit Namen rufen.
  5. Da nun die Zeit Esthers "herankam," der Tochter "Abihails," des Oheims Mardochais (die er zur Tochter hatte "aufgenommen)," daß sie zum König kommen "sollte," begehrte sie "nichts," denn was "Hegai," des Königs "Kämmerer," der Weiber "Hüter," sprach. Und Esther fand Gnade vor "allen," die sie ansahen.
  1. Every day he walked back and forth near the courtyard of the harem to find out how Esther was and what was happening to her.
  2. Before a girl's turn came to go in to King Xerxes, she had to complete twelve months of beauty treatments prescribed for the women, six months with oil of myrrh and six with perfumes and cosmetics.
  3. And this is how she would go to the king: Anything she wanted was given her to take with her from the harem to the king's palace.
  4. In the evening she would go there and in the morning return to another part of the harem to the care of Shaashgaz, the king's eunuch who was in charge of the concubines. She would not return to the king unless he was pleased with her and summoned her by name.
  5. When the turn came for Esther (the girl Mordecai had adopted, the daughter of his uncle Abihail) to go to the king, she asked for nothing other than what Hegai, the king's eunuch who was in charge of the harem, suggested. And Esther won the favor of everyone who saw her.

  3. 王(왕)이 크게 잔치를 베푸니 이는 에스더를 爲(위)한 잔치라 모든 方伯(방백)과 臣僕(신복)을 響應(향응)하고 또 各(각) 道(도)의 稅金(세금)을 免除(면제)하고 王(왕)의 豊富(풍부)함을 따라 크게 賞(상) 주니라
  4. 處女(처녀)들을 다시 모을 때에는 모르드개가 大闕(대궐) 門(문)에 앉았더라
  5. 에스더가 모르드개의 命(명)한대로 그 宗族(종족)과 民族(민족)을 告(고)하지 아니하니 저가 모르드개의 命(명)을 養育(양육)받을 때와 같이 좇음이더라

  1. Es ward aber Esther genommen zum König Ahasveros ins königliche Haus im zehnten "Monat," der da heißt "Tebeth," im siebenten Jahr seines Königreichs.
  2. Und der König gewann Esther lieb über alle "Weiber," und sie fand Gnade und Barmherzigkeit vor ihm vor allen Jungfrauen. Und er setzte die königliche Krone auf ihr Haupt und machte sie zur Königin an Vasthis Statt.
  3. Und der König machte ein großes Mahl allen seinen Fürsten und "Knechten," das war ein Mahl um Esthers "willen," und ließ die Länder ruhen und gab königliche Geschenke aus.
  4. Und da man das anderemal Jungfrauen "versammelte," saß Mardochai im Tor des Königs.
  5. Und Esther hatte noch nicht angesagt ihre Freundschaft noch ihr "Volk," wie ihr Mardochai geboten hatte; denn Esther tat nach den Worten "Mardochais," gleich als da er ihr Vormund war.
  1. She was taken to King Xerxes in the royal residence in the tenth month, the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
  2. Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.
  3. And the king gave a great banquet, Esther's banquet, for all his nobles and officials. He proclaimed a holiday throughout the provinces and distributed gifts with royal liberality.
  4. When the virgins were assembled a second time, Mordecai was sitting at the king's gate.
  5. But Esther had kept secret her family background and nationality just as Mordecai had told her to do, for she continued to follow Mordecai's instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up.
  1. 모르드개가 大闕(대궐) 門(문)에 앉았을 때에 門(문) 지킨 王(왕)의 內侍(내시) 빅단과 데레스 두 사람이 아하수에로 王(왕)을 怨恨(원한)하여 謀殺(모살)하려 하거늘
  2. 모르드개가 알고 王后(왕후) 에스더에게 告(고)하니 에스더가 모르드개의 이름으로 王(왕)에게 告(고)한지라
  3. 事實(사실)하여 實情(실정)을 얻었으므로 두 사람을 나무에 달고 그 일을 王(왕)의 앞에서 宮中(궁중) 日記(일기)에 記錄(기록)하니라

  1. Zur selben "Zeit," da Mardochai im Tor des Königs "saß," wurden zwei Kämmerer des "Königs," Bigthan und "Theres," die die Tür "hüteten," zornig und trachteten ihre Hände an den König Ahasveros zu legen.
  2. Das ward Mardochai "kund," und er sagte es der Königin "Esther," und Esther sagte es dem König in Mardochais Namen.
  3. Und da man "nachforschte," ward's "gefunden," und sie wurden beide an Bäume gehängt. Und es ward geschrieben in die Chronik vor dem König.
  1. During the time Mordecai was sitting at the king's gate, Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's officers who guarded the doorway, became angry and conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.
  2. But Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther, who in turn reported it to the king, giving credit to Mordecai.
  3. And when the report was investigated and found to be true, the two officials were hanged on a gallows. All this was recorded in the book of the annals in the presence of the king.
