1. ^ㅋ유다와 베냐민의 對敵(대적)이 사로잡혔던 者(자)의 子孫(자손)이 이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 爲(위)하여 殿(전)을 建築(건축)한다 함을 듣고
   
2. 스룹바벨과 族長(족장)들에게 나아와 이르되 우리로 너희와 함께 建築(건축)하게 하라 우리도 너희같이 너희 하나님을 求(구)하노라 앗수르 王(왕) ^ㅌ에살핫돈이 ^ㅍ우리를 이리로 오게한 ^ㅎ날부터 우리가 하나님께 祭祀(제사)를 드리노라
   
3. 스룹바벨과 예수아와 其他(기타) 이스라엘 族長(족장)들이 이르되 우리 하나님의 殿(전)을 建築(건축)하는데 ^ㅏ너희는 우리와 相關(상관)이 없느니라 ^ㅑ바사 王(왕) 고레스가 우리에게 命(명)하신 대로 우리가 이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 爲(위)하여 홀로 建築(건축)하리라 하였더니
   
4. 이로부터 ^ㅓ그 땅 百姓(백성)이 유다 百姓(백성)의 손을 弱(약)하게 하여 그 建築(건축)을 妨害(방해)하되
   
5. 바사 王(왕) 고레스의 時代(시대)부터 바사 王(왕) 다리오가 卽位(즉위)할 때까지 議士(의사)들에게 賂物(뢰물)을 주어 그 經營(경영)을 沮戱(저희)하였으며
   

1. Da aber die Widersacher Juda's und Benjamins "hörten," daß die Kinder der Gefangenschaft dem "HERRN," dem Gott "Israels," den Tempel "bauten,"
   
2. kamen sie zu Serubabel und zu den Obersten der Vaterhäuser und sprachen zu ihnen: Wir wollen mit euch bauen; denn wir suchen euren Gott gleichwie "ihr," und wir haben ihm "geopfert," seit der Zeit da "Asar-Haddon," der König von "Assyrien," uns hat heraufgebracht. {~}
   
3. Aber Serubabel und Jesua und die andern Obersten der Vaterhäuser in Israel antworteten ihnen: Es ziemt sich "nicht," uns und "euch," das Haus unsers Gottes zu bauen; sondern wir wollen allein bauen dem "HERRN," dem Gott "Israels," wie uns "Kores," der König in "Persien," geboten hat. {~}
   
4. Da hinderte das Volk im Lande die Hand des Volkes Juda und schreckten sie ab im Bauen
   
5. und dingten Ratgeber wider sie und verhinderten ihren "Rat," solange "Kores," der König in "Persien," "lebte," bis an das Königreich "Darius," des Königs in Persien.
   

1. When the enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the exiles were building a temple for the LORD, the God of Israel,
   
2. they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of the families and said, "Let us help you build because, like you, we seek your God and have been sacrificing to him since the time of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us here."
   
3. But Zerubbabel, Jeshua and the rest of the heads of the families of Israel answered, "You have no part with us in building a temple to our God. We alone will build it for the LORD, the God of Israel, as King Cyrus, the king of Persia, commanded us."
   
4. Then the peoples around them set out to discourage the people of Judah and make them afraid to go on building.
   
5. They hired counselors to work against them and frustrate their plans during the entire reign of Cyrus king of Persia and down to the reign of Darius king of Persia.
   

6. 또 ^ㅕ아하수에로가 卽位(즉위)할 때에 저희가 글을 올려 유다와 예루살렘 居民(거민)을 告訴(고소)하니라
   
7. 아닥사스다 때에 비슬람과, ^ㅗ미드르닷과, 다브엘과, 그 同僚(동료)들이 바사王(왕) 아닥사스다에게 글을 올렸으니 그 글은 아람 文字(문자)와 ^ㅛ아람 方言(방언)으로 써서 陳述(진술)하였더라
   
8. 方伯(방백) 르훔과, 書記官(서기관) 심새가 아닥사스다王(왕)에게 올려 예루살렘 百姓(백성)을 告訴(고소)한 그 글에
   
9. 方伯(방백) 르훔과 書記官(서기관) 심새와 그 同僚(동료) ^ㅜ디나 사람과, ^ㅠ아바삿 사람과, 다블래 사람과, 아바새 사람과, 아렉 사람과, 바벨론 사람과, 수산 사람과, 데해 사람과, ^으엘람 사람과,
   
10. 其他(기타) 百姓(백성) 곧 尊貴(존귀)한 ^이오스납발이 사마리아 城(성)과 江(강) 西便(서편) 다른 땅에 옮겨 둔 者(자)들과 ^ㅐ함께 告(고)한다 하였더라
    

6. Und da Ahasveros König "ward," im Anfang seines "Königreichs," schrieben sie eine Anklage wider die von Juda und Jerusalem.
   
7. Und zu den Zeiten Arthahsasthas schrieb "Bislam," "Mithredath," Tabeel und die andern ihres Rats an "Arthahsastha," den König in Persien. Die Schrift aber des Briefes war "syrisch," und er war auf syrisch verdolmetscht. {~}
   
8. Rehum, der "Kanzler," und "Simsai," der Schreiber schrieben diesen Brief wider Jerusalem an "Arthahsastha," den König:
   
9. Wir, "Rehum," der "Kanzler," und "Simsai," der "Schreiber," und die andern des Rats: die von "Dina," von "Arpharsach," von "Tarpal," von "Persien," von "Erech," von "Babel," von "Susan," von Deha und von "Elam,"
   
10. und die andern "Völker," welche der große und berühmte Asnaphar herübergebracht und gesetzt hat in die Stadt Samaria und in die andern Orte diesseits des "Wassers," und so fort.
    

6. At the beginning of the reign of Xerxes, they lodged an accusation against the people of Judah and Jerusalem.
   
7. And in the days of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel and the rest of his associates wrote a letter to Artaxerxes. The letter was written in Aramaic script and in the Aramaic language.
   
8. Rehum the commanding officer and Shimshai the secretary wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king as follows:
   
9. Rehum the commanding officer and Shimshai the secretary, together with the rest of their associates--the judges and officials over the men from Tripolis, Persia, Erech and Babylon, the Elamites of Susa,
   
10. and the other people whom the great and honorable Ashurbanipal deported and settled in the city of Samaria and elsewhere in Trans-Euphrates.
    

11. 아닥사스다王(왕)에게 올린 그 글의 抄本(초본)은 이러하니 江(강) 西便(서편)에 있는 臣僕(신복)들은
    
12. 王(왕)에게 告(고)하나이다 王(왕)에게서 올라온 유다 사람들이 우리의 곳 예루살렘에 이르러 이 悖逆(패역)하고 惡(악)한 城邑(성읍)을 建築(건축)하는데 이미 그 地臺(지대)를 修築(수축)하고 ^ㄱ城郭(성곽)을 建築(건축)하오니
    
13. 이제 王(왕)은 아시옵소서 萬一(만일) 이 城邑(성읍)을 建築(건축)하며 그 城郭(성곽)을 마치면 저 무리가 다시는 ^ㄴ朝貢(조공)과 雜稅(잡세)와 賦稅(부세)를 바치지 아니하리니 畢竟(필경) 王(왕)들에게 損害(손해)가 되리이다
    
14. 우리가 이제 宮(궁)의 소금을 먹는 故(고)로 王(왕)의 羞恥(수치) 當(당)함을 참아 보지 못하여 보내어 王(왕)에게 告(고)하오니
    
15. 王(왕)은 列祖(열조)의 史記(사기)를 살피시면 그 史記(사기)에서 이 城邑(성읍)은 悖逆(패역)한 城邑(성읍)이라 예로부터 그 中(중)에서 恒常(항상) 叛逆(반역)하는 일을 行(행)하여 列王(열왕)과 各(각) 道(도)에 損害(손해)가 된 것을 보시고 아실지라 이 城邑(성읍)이 毁破(훼파)됨도 이 까닭이니이다
    

11. Und dies ist der Inhalt des "Briefes," den sie dem König Arthahsastha sandten: Deine "Knechte," die Männer diesseits des "Wassers," und so fort.
    
12. Es sei kund dem "König," daß die "Juden," die von dir zu uns heraufgekommen sind gen "Jerusalem," in die aufrührerische und böse "Stadt," bauen sie und machen ihre Mauern und führen sie aus dem Grunde. {~}
    
13. So sei nun dem König kund: Wo diese Stadt gebaut wird und die Mauern wieder "gemacht," so werden sie "Schoß," Zoll und jährliche Zinse nicht "geben," und ihr Vornehmen wird den Königen Schaden bringen.
    
14. Nun wir aber das Salz des Königshauses essen und die Schmach des Königs nicht länger wollen "sehen," darum schicken wir hin und lassen es den König zu wissen "tun,"
    
15. daß man lasse suchen in den Chroniken deiner Väter; so wirst du finden in denselben Chroniken und "erfahren," daß diese Stadt aufrührerisch und schädlich ist den Königen und Landen und "macht," daß andere auch "abfallen," von alters "her," darum die Stadt auch zerstört ist. {~} {~}
    

11. (This is a copy of the letter they sent him.) To King Artaxerxes, From your servants, the men of Trans-Euphrates:
    
12. The king should know that the Jews who came up to us from you have gone to Jerusalem and are rebuilding that rebellious and wicked city. They are restoring the walls and repairing the foundations.
    
13. Furthermore, the king should know that if this city is built and its walls are restored, no more taxes, tribute or duty will be paid, and the royal revenues will suffer.
    
14. Now since we are under obligation to the palace and it is not proper for us to see the king dishonored, we are sending this message to inform the king,
    
15. so that a search may be made in the archives of your predecessors. In these records you will find that this city is a rebellious city, troublesome to kings and provinces, a place of rebellion from ancient times. That is why this city was destroyed.
    

16. 이제 敢(감)히 王(왕)에게 告(고)하오니 이 城邑(성읍)이 重建(중건)되어 城郭(성곽)을 畢役(필역)하면 이로 말미암아 王(왕)의 江(강) 西便(서편) 領地(령지)가 없어지리이다 하였더라
    
17. 王(왕)이 方伯(방백) 르훔과 書記官(서기관) 심새와 사마리아에 居(거)한 저희 同僚(동료)와 江(강) 西便(서편) 다른 땅 百姓(백성)에게 詔書(조서)를 내리니 일렀으되 너희는 平安(평안)할지어다
    
18. 너희의 올린 글을 ^ㄷ내 앞에서 朗讀(랑독)시키고
    
19. 命(명)하여 살펴보니 果然(과연) 이 城邑(성읍)이 예로부터 列王(열왕)을 拒逆(거역)하며 그 中(중)에서 恒常(항상) 悖逆(패역)하고 謀叛(모반)하는 일을 行(행)하였으며
    
20. 옛적에는 예루살렘을 主宰(주재)하는 큰 君王(군왕)이 있어서 ^ㄹ江(강) 西便(서편) 모든 땅도 主宰(주재)하매 ^ㅁ朝貢(조공)과 雜稅(잡세)와 賦稅(부세)를 저에게 다 바쳤도다
    

16. Darum tun wir dem König zu "wissen," "daß," wo diese Stadt gebaut wird und ihre Mauern "gemacht," so wirst du vor ihr nichts behalten diesseits des Wassers. {~}
    
17. Da sandte der König ein Antwort an "Rehum," den "Kanzler," und "Simsai," den "Schreiber," und die andern ihres "Rates," die in Samaria wohnten und in den andern Orten jenseits des Wassers: Friede und Gruß!
    
18. der "Brief," den ihr uns zugeschickt "habt," ist deutlich vor mir gelesen.
    
19. Und ist von mir "befohlen," daß man suchen sollte. Und man hat "gefunden," daß diese Stadt von alters her wider die Könige sich empört hat und Aufruhr und Abfall darin geschieht.
    
20. Auch sind mächtige Könige zu Jerusalem "gewesen," die geherrscht haben über "alles," was jenseits des Wassers "ist," daß ihnen "Zoll," Schoß und jährliche Zinse gegeben wurden.
    

16. We inform the king that if this city is built and its walls are restored, you will be left with nothing in Trans-Euphrates.
    
17. The king sent this reply: To Rehum the commanding officer, Shimshai the secretary and the rest of their associates living in Samaria and elsewhere in Trans-Euphrates: Greetings.
    
18. The letter you sent us has been read and translated in my presence.
    
19. I issued an order and a search was made, and it was found that this city has a long history of revolt against kings and has been a place of rebellion and sedition.
    
20. Jerusalem has had powerful kings ruling over the whole of Trans-Euphrates, and taxes, tribute and duty were paid to them.
    

21. 이제 너희는 命(명)을 傳(전)하여 그 사람들로 役事(역사)를 그치게 하여 그 城(성)을 建築(건축)지 못하게 하고 내가 다시 詔書(조서) 내리기를 기다리라
    
22. 너희는 삼가서 이 일에 게으르지 말라 어찌하여 禍(화)를 더하여 王(왕)들에게 損害(손해)가 되게 하랴 하였더라
    
23. 아닥사스다 王(왕)의 詔書(조서) 抄本(초본)이 르훔과 書記官(서기관) 심새와 그 同僚(동료) 앞에서 朗讀(랑독)되매 저희가 예루살렘으로 急(급)히 가서 유다 사람들을 보고 權力(권력)으로 抑制(억제)하여 그 役事(역사)를 그치게 하니
    
24. 이에 예루살렘에서 하나님의 殿(전) 役事(역사)가 그쳐서 바사 王(왕) 다리오 第(제) 二年(이년)까지 이르니라
    

21. So tut nun nach diesem Befehl: Wehrt denselben "Männern," daß diese Stadt nicht gebaut "werde," bis daß von mir der Befehl gegeben werde.
    
22. So seht nun "zu," daß ihr nicht lässig hierin "seid," damit nicht größerer Schade entstehe dem König! {~}
    
23. Da nun der Brief des Königs Arthahsastha gelesen ward vor Rehum und "Simsai," dem "Schreiber," und ihrem "Rat," zogen sie eilend hinauf gen Jerusalem zu den Juden und wehrten ihnen mit Arm und Gewalt. {~} {~} {~}
    
24. Da hörte auf das Werk am Hause Gottes zu Jerusalem und blieb nach bis ins zweite Jahr des "darius," des Königs in Persien. {~}
    

21. Now issue an order to these men to stop work, so that this city will not be rebuilt until I so order.
    
22. Be careful not to neglect this matter. Why let this threat grow, to the detriment of the royal interests?
    
23. As soon as the copy of the letter of King Artaxerxes was read to Rehum and Shimshai the secretary and their associates, they went immediately to the Jews in Jerusalem and compelled them by force to stop.
    
24. Thus the work on the house of God in Jerusalem came to a standstill until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
