Cependant Juda disait: Les forces manquent à ceux qui portent les fardeaux, et les décombres sont considérables; nous ne pourrons pas bâtir la muraille.

So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.

But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the men of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem's walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry.

They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it.

But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.

Meanwhile, the people in Judah said, "The strength of the laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall."

우리의 對敵(대적)은 이르기를 저희가 알지 못하고 보지 못하는 사이에 우리가 저희 中(중)에 달려 들어가서 殺戮(살륙)하여 役事(역사)를 그치게 하리라 하고

그 對敵(대적)의 近處(근처)에 居(거)하는 유다 사람들도 그 各處(각처)에서 와서 열番(번)이나 우리에게 告(고)하기를 너희가 우리에게로 와야 하리라 하기로

내가 城(성) 뒤 낮고 넓은 곳에 百姓(백성)으로 그 宗族(종족)을 따라 칼과 槍(창)과 활을 가지고 서게 하고

내가 돌아본 後(후)에 일어나서 貴人(귀인)들과 民長(민장)과 남은 百姓(백성)에게 告(고)하기를 ^ㄷ너희는 저희를 두려워 말고 ^ㄹ至極(지극)히 크시고 두려우신 主(주)를 記憶(기억)하고 ^ㅁ너희 兄弟(형제)와 子女(자녀)와 아내와 집을 爲(위)하여 싸우라 하였었느니라

우리의 對敵(대적)이 自己(자기)의 뜻을 우리가 알았다 함을 들으니라 ^ㅂ하나님이 저희의 꾀를 廢(폐)하셨으므로 우리가 다 城(성)에 돌아와서 各各(각각) 役事(역사)하였는데

Et nos ennemis disaient: Ils ne sauront et ne verront rien jusqu'à ce que nous arrivions au milieu d'eux; nous les tuerons, et nous ferons ainsi cesser l'ouvrage.

Or les Juifs qui habitaient près d'eux vinrent dix fois nous avertir, de tous les lieux d'où ils se rendaient vers nous.

C'est pourquoi je plaçai, dans les enfoncements derrière la muraille et sur des terrains secs, le peuple par familles, tous avec leurs épées, leurs lances et leurs arcs.

Je regardai, et m'étant levé, je dis aux grands, aux magistrats, et au reste du peuple: Ne les craignez pas! Souvenez-vous du Seigneur, grand et redoutable, et combattez pour vos frères, pour vos fils et vos filles, pour vos femmes et pour vos maisons!

Lorsque nos ennemis apprirent que nous étions avertis, Dieu anéantit leur projet, et nous retournâmes tous à la muraille, chacun à son ouvrage.

Also our enemies said, "Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work."

Then the Jews who lived near them came and told us ten times over, "Wherever you turn, they will attack us."

Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows.

After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."

When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his own work.

그 때로부터 내 從者(종자)의 折半(절반)은 役事(역사)하고 折半(절반)은 ^ㅅ甲(갑)옷을 입고 槍(창)과 防牌(방패)와 활을 가졌고 民長(민장)은 유다 온 族屬(족속)의 뒤에 있었으며

城(성)을 建築(건축)하는 者(자)와 擔負(담부) 하는 者(자)는 다 各各(각각) 한 손으로 일을 하며, 한 손에는 兵器(병기)를 잡았는데

建築(건축)하는 者(자)는 各各(각각) 칼을 차고 建築(건축)하며 나팔 부는 者(자)는 내 곁에 섰었느니라

내가 ^ㅇ貴人(귀인)들과 民長(민장)들과 남은 百姓(백성)에게 이르기를 이 役事(역사)는 크고 넓으므로 우리가 城(성)에서 나뉘어 相距(상거)가 먼즉

너희가 無論(무론) 어디서든지 나팔 소리를 듣거든 그리로 모여서 우리에게로 나아오라 ^ㅈ우리 하나님이 우리를 爲(위)하여 싸우시리라 하였느니라

Depuis ce jour, la moitié de mes serviteurs travaillait, et l'autre moitié était armée de lances, de boucliers, d'arcs et de cuirasses. Les chefs étaient derrière toute la maison de Juda.

Ceux qui bâtissaient la muraille, et ceux qui portaient ou chargeaient les fardeaux, travaillaient d'une main et tenaient une arme de l'autre;

chacun d'eux, en travaillant, avait son épée ceinte autour des reins. Celui qui sonnait de la trompette se tenait près de moi.

Je dis aux grands, aux magistrats, et au reste du peuple: L'ouvrage est considérable et étendu, et nous sommes dispersés sur la muraille, éloignés les uns des autres.

Au son de la trompette, rassemblez-vous auprès de nous, vers le lieu d'où vous l'entendrez; notre Dieu combattra pour nous.

From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah

who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other,

and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.

Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall.

Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!"

우리가 이같이 役事(역사)하는데 무리의 折半(절반)은 동틀 때부터 별이 나기까지 槍(창)을 잡았었으며

그 때에 내가 또 百姓(백성)에게 告(고)하기를 사람마다 그 從者(종자)와 함께 예루살렘 안에서 잘지니 밤에는 우리를 爲(위)하여 把守(파수)하겠고 낮에는 役事(역사)하리라 하고

내나 내 兄弟(형제)들이나 從者(종자)들이나 나를 좇아 把守(파수)하는 사람들이나 다 그 옷을 벗지 아니하였으며 ^ㅊ물을 길으러 갈 때에도 機械(기계)를 잡았었느니라

ㅊ삿5:11

C'est ainsi que nous poursuivions l'ouvrage, la moitié d'entre nous la lance à la main depuis le lever de l'aurore jusqu'à l'apparition des étoiles.

Dans ce même temps, je dis encore au peuple: Que chacun passe la nuit dans Jérusalem avec son serviteur; faisons la garde pendant la nuit, et travaillons pendant le jour.

Et nous ne quittions point nos vêtements, ni moi, ni mes frères, ni mes serviteurs, ni les hommes de garde qui me suivaient; chacun n'avait que ses armes et de l'eau.

So we continued the work with half the men holding spears, from the first light of dawn till the stars came out.

At that time I also said to the people, "Have every man and his helper stay inside Jerusalem at night, so they can serve us as guards by night and workmen by day."

Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.
