1. 이에 다윗이 그 함께한 百姓(백성)을 計數(계수)하고 千夫長(천부장)과 百夫長(백부장)을 그 위에 세우고
   
2. 그 百姓(백성)을 내어 보낼새 三分之(삼분지) 一(일)은 요압의 手下(수하)에, 三分之(삼분지) 一(일)은 스루야의 아들 요압의 同生(동생) 아비새의 手下(수하)에 붙이고, 三分之(삼분지) 一(일)은 가드 사람 ^ㅓ잇대의 手下(수하)에 붙이고 百姓(백성)에게 이르되 나도 반드시 너희와 함께 나가리라
   
3. ^ㅕ百姓(백성)들이 가로되 王(왕)은 나가지 마소서 우리가 逃亡(도망)할지라도 저희는 우리에게 注意(주의)하지 아니할 터이요 우리가 折半(절반)이나 죽을지라도 우리에게 注意(주의)하지 아니할 터이라 王(왕)은 우리 萬名(만명)보다 重(중)하시오니 王(왕)은 城(성)에 계시다가 우리를 도우심이 좋으니이다
   
4. 王(왕)이 저희에게 이르되 너희가 善(선)히 여기는대로 내가 行(행)하리라 하고 門(문) 곁에 서매 모든 百姓(백성)이 百名(백명)씩 千名(천명)씩 隊(대)를 지어 나가는지라
   
5. 王(왕)이 요압과 아비새와 잇대에게 命(명)하여 가로되 나를 爲(위)하여 少年(소년) 압살롬을 너그러이 待接(대접)하라 하니 王(왕)이 압살롬을 爲(위)하여 모든 軍長(군장)에게 命令(명령)할 때에 ^ㅗ百姓(백성)들이 다 들으니라
   

1. Und David ordnete das "Volk," das bei ihm "war," und setzte über sie "Hauptleute," über tausend und über "hundert,"
   
2. und stellte des Volkes einen dritten Teil unter Joab und einen dritten Teil unter "Abisai," den Sohn der "Zeruja," Joabs "Bruder," und einen dritten Teil unter "Itthai," den Gathiter. Und der König sprach zum Volk: Ich will auch mit euch ausziehen.
   
3. Aber das Volk sprach: Du sollst nicht ausziehen; denn ob wir gleich fliehen oder die Hälfte "sterben," so werden sie unser nicht achten; denn du bist wie unser zehntausend; so ist's nun "besser," daß du uns von der Stadt aus helfen mögst. {~} {~} {~} {~}
   
4. Der König sprach zu ihnen: Was euch "gefällt," das will ich tun. Und der König trat ans "Tor," und alles Volk zog aus bei Hunderten und bei Tausenden.
   
5. Und der König gebot Joab und Abisai und Itthai und sprach: Fahrt mir säuberlich mit dem Knaben Absalom! Und alles Volk hörte "es," da der König gebot allen Hauptleuten um Absalom. {~}
   

1. David mustered the men who were with him and appointed over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.
   
2. David sent the troops out--a third under the command of Joab, a third under Joab's brother Abishai son of Zeruiah, and a third under Ittai the Gittite. The king told the troops, "I myself will surely march out with you."
   
3. But the men said, "You must not go out; if we are forced to flee, they won't care about us. Even if half of us die, they won't care; but you are worth ten thousand of us. It would be better now for you to give us support from the city."
   
4. The king answered, "I will do whatever seems best to you." So the king stood beside the gate while all the men marched out in units of hundreds and of thousands.
   
5. The king commanded Joab, Abishai and Ittai, "Be gentle with the young man Absalom for my sake." And all the troops heard the king giving orders concerning Absalom to each of the commanders.
   

6. 이에 百姓(백성)이 이스라엘을 치러 들로 나가서 ^ㅛ에브라임 수풀에서 싸우더니
   
7. 거기서 이스라엘 무리가 다윗의 心腹(심복)들에게 敗(패)하매 그날 그곳에서 殺戮(살륙)이 커서 二萬(이만)에 이르렀고
   
8. 그 땅에서 四面(사면)으로 퍼져 싸웠으므로 그 날에 수풀에서 죽은 者(자)가 칼에 죽은 者(자)보다 많았더라
   
9. 압살롬이 다윗의 信服(신복)과 마주치니라 압살롬이 노새를 탔는데 그 노새가 큰 상수리나무 蕃盛(번성)한 가지 아래로 지날 때에 ^ㅜ압살롬의 머리털이 그 상수리나무에 걸리매 저가 空中(공중)에 달리고 그 탔던 노새는 그 아래로 빠져 나간지라
   
10. 한 사람이 보고 요압에게 告(고)하여 가로되 내가 보니 압살롬이 상수리나무에 달렸더이다
    

6. Und da das Volk hinauskam aufs "Feld," Israel "entgegen," erhob sich der Streit im Walde Ephraim.
   
7. Und das Volk Israel ward daselbst geschlagen vor den Knechten "Davids," daß desselben Tages eine große Schlacht "geschah," zwanzigtausend Mann.
   
8. Und war daselbst der Streit zerstreut auf allem Lande; und der Wald fraß viel mehr Volk des "Tages," denn das Schwert fraß.
   
9. Und Absalom begegnete den Knechten Davids und ritt auf einem Maultier. Und da das Maultier unter eine große Eiche mit dichten Zweigen "kam," blieb sein Haupt an der Eiche "hangen," und er schwebte zwischen Himmel und Erde; aber sein Maultier lief unter ihm weg.
   
10. Da das ein Mann "sah," sagte er's Joab an und sprach: "Siehe," ich sah Absalom an einer Eiche hangen.
    

6. The army marched into the field to fight Israel, and the battle took place in the forest of Ephraim.
   
7. There the army of Israel was defeated by David's men, and the casualties that day were great--twenty thousand men.
   
8. The battle spread out over the whole countryside, and the forest claimed more lives that day than the sword.
   
9. Now Absalom happened to meet David's men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom's head got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going.
   
10. When one of the men saw this, he told Joab, "I just saw Absalom hanging in an oak tree."
    

11. 요압이 그 告(고)한 사람에게 이르되 네가 보고 어찌하여 當場(당장)에 쳐서 땅에 떨어뜨리지 아니하였느뇨 내가 네게 銀(은) 열箇(개)와 띠 하나를 주었으리라
    
12. 그 사람이 요압에게 對答(대답)하되 내가 내 손에 銀(은) 千箇(천개)를 받는다 할지라도 나는 王(왕)의 아들에게 손을 대지 아니하겠나이다 ^ㅠ우리가 들었거니와 王(왕)이 當身(당신)과 아비새와 잇대에게 命(명)하여 이르시기를 삼가 누구든지 少年(소년) 압살롬을 害(해)하지 말라 하셨나이다
    
13. 아무 일도 王(왕) 앞에는 숨길 수 없나니 내가 萬一(만일) 拒逆(거역)하여 그 生命(생명)을 害(해)하였다면 當身(당신)도 나를 對敵(대적)하였으리이다
    
14. 요압이 가로되 나는 너와 같이 遲滯(지체)할 수 없다 하고 손에 작은 槍(창) 셋을 가지고 가서 상수리나무 가운데서 아직 살아 있는 압살롬의 心臟(심장)을 찌르니
    
15. 요압의 兵器(병기)를 맡은 少年(소년) 열이 압살롬을 에워싸고 쳐죽이니라
    

11. Und Joab sprach zu dem "Mann," der's ihm hatte angesagt: "Siehe," sahst du "das," warum schlugst du ihn nicht daselbst zur Erde? so wollte ich dir von meinetwegen zehn Silberlinge und einen Gürtel gegeben haben.
    
12. Der Mann sprach zu Joab: Wenn du mir tausend Silberlinge in meine Hand gewogen "hättest," so wollte ich dennoch meine Hand nicht an des Königs Sohn gelegt haben; denn der König gebot dir und Abisai und Itthai vor unsern Ohren und sprach: Hütet "euch," daß nicht jemand dem Knaben Absalom...!
    
13. Oder wenn ich etwas Falsches getan hätte auf meiner Seele "Gefahr," weil dem König nichts verhohlen "wird," würdest du selbst wider mich gestanden sein. {~}
    
14. Joab sprach: Ich kann nicht so lange bei dir verziehen. Da nahm Joab drei Spieße in sein Hand und stieß sie Absalom ins "Herz," da er noch lebte an der Eiche.
    
15. Und zehn "Knappen," Joabs "Waffenträger," machten sich umher und schlugen ihn zu Tod.
    

11. Joab said to the man who had told him this, "What! You saw him? Why didn't you strike him to the ground right there? Then I would have had to give you ten shekels of silver and a warrior's belt."
    
12. But the man replied, "Even if a thousand shekels were weighed out into my hands, I would not lift my hand against the king's son. In our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, 'Protect the young man Absalom for my sake.'
    
13. And if I had put my life in jeopardy--and nothing is hidden from the king--you would have kept your distance from me."
    
14. Joab said, "I'm not going to wait like this for you." So he took three javelins in his hand and plunged them into Absalom's heart while Absalom was still alive in the oak tree.
    
15. And ten of Joab's armor-bearers surrounded Absalom, struck him and killed him.
    

16. 요압이 나팔을 불어 百姓(백성)들로 그치게 하니 저희가 이스라엘을 따르지 아니하고 돌아오니라
    
17. 무리가 압살롬을 옮겨다가 수풀 가운데 큰 구멍에 던지고 그 위에 ^으甚(심)히 큰 돌무더기를 쌓으니라 온 이스라엘 무리가 各其(각기) ^이帳幕(장막)으로 逃亡(도망)하니라
    
18. 압살롬이 살았을 때에 自己(자기)를 爲(위)하여 ^ㅐ한 碑石(비석)을 가져 세웠으니 이는 저가 ^ㄱ自己(자기) 이름을 傳(전)할 아들이 없음을 恨歎(한탄)함이라 그러므로 自己(자기) 이름으로 그 碑石(비석)을 이름하였으며 그 碑石(비석)이 ^ㄴ王(왕)의 골짜기에 있고 이제까지 압살롬의 記念碑(기념비)라 일컫더라
    
19. 사독의 아들 아히마아스가 가로되 ^ㄷ請(청)컨대 나로 빨리 王(왕)에게 가서 ^ㄹ여호와께서 王(왕)의 怨讐(원수) 갚아 주신 消息(소식)을 傳(전)하게 하소서
    
20. 요압이 저에게 이르되 너는 오늘 消息(소식)을 傳(전)하는 者(자)가 되지 말고 다른 날에 傳(전)할 것이니라 王(왕)의 아들이 죽었나니 네가 오늘날 消息(소식)을 傳(전)하지 못하리라 하고
    

16. Da blies Joab die Posaune und brachte das Volk "wieder," daß es nicht weiter Israel nachjagte; denn Joab wollte das Volk schonen.
    
17. Und sie nahmen Absalom und warfen ihn in den Wald in eine große Grube und legten einen sehr großen Haufen Steine auf ihn. Und das ganze Israel "floh," ein jeglicher in seine Hütte.
    
18. Absalom aber hatte sich eine Säule "aufgerichtet," da er noch lebte; die steht im Königsgrunde. Denn er sprach: Ich habe keinen "Sohn," darum soll dies meines Namens Gedächtnis sein; er hieß die Säule nach seinem "Namen," und sie heißt auch bis auf diesen Tag Absaloms Mal.
    
19. Ahimaaz, der Sohn "Zadoks," sprach: Laß mich doch laufen und dem König "verkündigen," daß der HERR ihm Recht verschafft hat von seiner Feinde Händen.
    
20. Joab aber sprach zu ihm: Du bringst heute keine gute Botschaft. Einen andern Tag sollst du Botschaft "bringen," und heute nicht; denn des Königs Sohn ist tot.
    

16. Then Joab sounded the trumpet, and the troops stopped pursuing Israel, for Joab halted them.
    
17. They took Absalom, threw him into a big pit in the forest and piled up a large heap of rocks over him. Meanwhile, all the Israelites fled to their homes.
    
18. During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King's Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, "I have no son to carry on the memory of my name." He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom's Monument to this day.
    
19. Now Ahimaaz son of Zadok said, "Let me run and take the news to the king that the LORD has delivered him from the hand of his enemies."
    
20. "You are not the one to take the news today," Joab told him. "You may take the news another time, but you must not do so today, because the king's son is dead."
    

21. 구스 사람에게 이르되 네가 가서 본 것을 王(왕)께 告(고)하라 하매 구스 사람이 요압에게 절하고 달음질하여 가니
    
22. 사독의 아들 아히마아스가 다시 요압에게 이르되 請(청)컨대 아무쪼록 나로 또한 구스 사람의 뒤를 따라 달음질하게 하소서 요압이 가로되 내 아들아 왜 달음질하려 하느냐 이 消息(소식)으로 因(인)하여는 賞(상)을 받지 못하리라 하되
    
23. 저가 아무쪼록 달음질하겠노라 하는지라 요압이 가로되 그리하라 하니 아히마아스가 ^ㅁ들길로 달음질하여 구스 사람보다 앞서니라
    
24. 때에 다윗이 ^ㅂ두 門(문) 사이에 앉았더라 ^ㅅ把守軍(파수군)이 城門樓(성문루)에 올라가서 눈을 들어 보니 어떤 사람이 홀로 달음질하는지라
    
25. 把守軍(파수군)이 외쳐 王(왕)께 告(고)하매 王(왕)이 가로되 저가 萬一(만일) 혼자면 그 입에 消息(소식)이 있으리라 할 때에 저가 次次(차차) 가까이 오니라
    

21. Aber zu Chusi sprach Joab: Gehe hin und sage dem König "an," was du gesehen hast. Und Chusi neigte sich vor Joab und lief.
    
22. Ahimaaz "aber," der Sohn "Zadoks," sprach abermals zu Joab: "Wie," wenn ich auch liefe dem Chusi nach? Joab sprach: Was willst du "laufen," Mein Sohn? Komm "her," die Botschaft wird dir nichts einbringen.
    
23. Wie wenn ich liefe? Er sprach zu ihm: So laufe doch! Also lief Ahimaaz geradewegs und kam Chusi vor.
    
24. David aber saß zwischen beiden Toren. Und der Wächter ging aufs Dach des Tors an der Mauer und hob seine Augen auf und sah einen Mann laufen allein
    
25. und rief und sagte es dem König an. Der König aber sprach: Ist er "allein," so ist eine gute Botschaft in seinem Munde. Und da derselbe immer näher "kam,"
    

21. Then Joab said to a Cushite, "Go, tell the king what you have seen." The Cushite bowed down before Joab and ran off.
    
22. Ahimaaz son of Zadok again said to Joab, "Come what may, please let me run behind the Cushite." But Joab replied, "My son, why do you want to go? You don't have any news that will bring you a reward."
    
23. He said, "Come what may, I want to run." So Joab said, "Run!" Then Ahimaaz ran by way of the plain and outran the Cushite.
    
24. While David was sitting between the inner and outer gates, the watchman went up to the roof of the gateway by the wall. As he looked out, he saw a man running alone.
    
25. The watchman called out to the king and reported it. The king said, "If he is alone, he must have good news." And the man came closer and closer.
    

26. 把守軍(파수군)이 본즉 한 사람이 또 달음질하는지라 門(문)지기에게 외쳐 이르되 보라, 한사람이 또 혼자 달음질한다 하니 王(왕)이 가로되 저도 消息(소식)을 가져오느니라
    
27. 把守軍(파수군)이 가로되 나 보기에는 앞선 사람의 달음질이 ^ㅇ사독의 아들 아히마아스의 달음질과 같으니이다 王(왕)이 가로되 ^ㅈ저는 좋은 사람이니 좋은 消息(소식)을 가져 오느니라
    
28. 아히마아스가 외쳐 王(왕)께 말씀하되 平安(평안)하옵소서 하고 王(왕)의 앞에서 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절하여 가로되 ^ㅊ王(왕)의 하나님 여호와를 讚揚(찬양)하리로소이다 그 손을 들어 내 主(주), 王(왕)을 對敵(대적)하는 者(자)들을 붙여 주셨나이다
    
29. 王(왕)이 가로되 ^ㅋ少年(소년) 압살롬이 잘 있느냐 아히마아스가 對答(대답)하되 요압이 王(왕)의 종, 나를 보낼 때에 크게 騷動(소동)하는것을 보았사오나 무슨 일인지 알지 못하였나이다
    
30. 王(왕)이 가로되 물러나 곁에 서 있으라 하매 물러나서 섰더라
    

26. sah der Wächter einen andern Mann "laufen," und rief in das Tor und sprach: "Siehe," ein Mann läuft allein. Der König aber sprach: Der ist auch ein guter Bote.
    
27. Der Wächter sprach: Ich sehe des ersten Lauf wie den Lauf des "Ahimaaz," des Sohnes Zadoks. Und der König sprach: Es ist ein guter Mann und bringt eine gute Botschaft.
    
28. Ahimaaz aber rief und sprach zum König: Friede! Und fiel nieder vor dem König auf sein Antlitz zur Erde und sprach: Gelobt sei der "HERR," dein "Gott," der die "Leute," die ihre Hand wider meinen "Herrn," den "König," "aufhoben," übergeben hat.
    
29. Der König aber sprach: Geht es auch wohl dem Knaben Absalom? Ahimaaz sprach: Ich sah ein großes "Getümmel," da des Königs Knecht Joab "mich," deinen "Knecht," "sandte," und weiß "nicht," was es war.
    
30. Der König sprach: Gehe herum und tritt daher. Und er ging herum und stand allda.
    

26. Then the watchman saw another man running, and he called down to the gatekeeper, "Look, another man running alone!" The king said, "He must be bringing good news, too."
    
27. The watchman said, "It seems to me that the first one runs like Ahimaaz son of Zadok." "He's a good man," the king said. "He comes with good news."
    
28. Then Ahimaaz called out to the king, "All is well!" He bowed down before the king with his face to the ground and said, "Praise be to the LORD your God! He has delivered up the men who lifted their hands against my lord the king."
    
29. The king asked, "Is the young man Absalom safe?" Ahimaaz answered, "I saw great confusion just as Joab was about to send the king's servant and me, your servant, but I don't know what it was."
    
30. The king said, "Stand aside and wait here." So he stepped aside and stood there.
    

31. 구스 사람이 이르러 告(고)하되 내 主(주), 王(왕)께 報(보)할 消息(소식)이 있나이다 ^ㅌ여호와께서 오늘날 王(왕)을 對敵(대적)하던 모든 怨讐(원수)를 갚으셨나이다
    
32. 王(왕)이 구스 사람에게 묻되 少年(소년) 압살롬이 잘 있느냐 구스 사람이 對答(대답)하되 ^ㅍ내 主(주), 王(왕)의 怨讐(원수)와 일어나서 王(왕)을 對敵(대적)하는 者(자)들은 다 그 少年(소년)과 같이 되기를 願(원)하나이다
    
33. 王(왕)의 마음이 甚(심)히 아파 門樓(문루)로 올라가서 우니라 저가 올라갈 때에 말하기를 ^ㅎ내 아들, 압살롬아 내 아들, 내 아들, 압살롬아 내가 너를 代身(대신)하여 죽었더면, 압살롬 내 아들아 내 아들아 하였더라
    

31. Siehe, da kam Chusi und sprach: Hier gute "Botschaft," mein Herr König! Der HERR hat dir heute Recht verschafft von der Hand "aller," die sich wider dich auflehnten.
    
32. Der König aber sprach zu Chusi: Geht es dem Knaben Absalom auch wohl? Chusi sprach: Es müsse allen Feinden meines Herrn Königs "gehen," wie es dem Knaben "geht," und "allen," die sich wider ihn "auflehnen," übel zu tun.
    
33. (-) Da ward der König traurig und ging hinauf auf den Söller im Tor und "weinte," und im Gehen sprach er also: Mein Sohn Absalom! mein "Sohn," mein Sohn Absalom! Wollte "Gott," ich wäre für dich gestorben! O "Absalom," mein "Sohn," mein Sohn!
    

31. Then the Cushite arrived and said, "My lord the king, hear the good news! The LORD has delivered you today from all who rose up against you."
    
32. The king asked the Cushite, "Is the young man Absalom safe?" The Cushite replied, "May the enemies of my lord the king and all who rise up to harm you be like that young man."
    
33. The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you--O Absalom, my son, my son!"
