auf daß ihr seid ohne Tadel und lauter und Gottes "Kinder," unsträflich mitten unter dem unschlachtigen und verkehrten "Geschlecht," unter welchem ihr scheinet als Lichter in der "Welt,"

and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,

for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Do everything without complaining or arguing,

so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe

^ㅜ生命(생명)의 말씀을 밝혀 ^ㅠ나의 달음질도 헛되지 아니하고 受苦(수고)도 헛되지 아니함으로 ^으그리스도의 날에 ^이나로 자랑할 것이 있게 하려 함이라

萬一(만일) ^ㅐ너희 믿음의 ^ㄱ祭物(제물)과 奉事(봉사) 위에 내가 나를 灌祭(관제)로 드릴지라도 나는 기뻐하고 너희 무리와 함께 기뻐하리니

이와 같이 너희도 기뻐하고 나와 함께 기뻐하라

내가 ^ㄴ디모데를 速(속)히 너희에게 보내기를 主(주) 안에서 바람은 너희 私情(사정)을 앎으로 安慰(안위)를 받으려 함이니

이는 ^ㄷ뜻을 같이 하여 너희 私情(사정)을 眞實(진실)히 생각할 者(자)가 이 밖에 내게 없음이라

damit daß ihr haltet an dem Wort des "Lebens," mir zu einem Ruhm an dem Tage "Christi," als der ich nicht vergeblich gelaufen noch vergeblich gearbeitet habe.

Und ob ich geopfert werde über dem Opfer und Gottesdienst eures "Glaubens," so freue ich mich und freue mich mit euch allen.

Dessen sollt ihr euch auch freuen und sollt euch mit mir freuen.

Ich hoffe aber in dem HERRN "Jesus," daß ich Timotheus bald werde zu euch "senden," daß ich auch erquickt "werde," wenn ich "erfahre," wie es um euch steht.

Denn ich habe "keinen," der so gar meines Sinnes "sei," der so herzlich für euch sorgt.

as you hold out the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.

But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you.

I have no one else like him, who takes a genuine interest in your welfare.

저희가 다 ^ㄹ自己(자기) 일을 求(구)하고 그리스도 예수의 일을 求(구)하지 아니하되

^ㅁ디모데의 鍊鍛(연단)을 너희가 아나니 ^ㅂ子息(자식)이 아비에게 함같이 나와 함께 福音(복음)을 爲(위)하여 ^ㅅ受苦(수고)하였느니라

그러므로 내가 내 일이 어떻게 될 것을 보아서 곧 이 사람을 보내기를 바라고

^ㅇ나도 速(속)히 가기를 主(주) 안에서 確信(확신)하노라

그러나 ^ㅈ에바브로디도를 너희에게 보내는 것이 必要(필요)한 줄로 생각하노니 그는 나의 兄弟(형제)요 함께 受苦(수고)하고 ^ㅊ함께 軍士(군사) 된 者(자)요 ^ㅋ너희 使者(사자)로 ^ㅌ나의 쓸 것을 돕는 者(자)라

Denn sie suchen alle das "ihre," "nicht," das Christi Jesu ist.

Ihr aber "wisset," daß er rechtschaffen ist; denn wie ein Kind dem Vater hat er mir gedient am Evangelium.

Ihn, hoffe "ich," werde ich senden von Stund "an," wenn ich erfahren "habe," wie es um mich steht.

Ich vertraue aber in dem "HERRN," daß auch ich selbst bald kommen werde.

Ich habe es aber für nötig "angesehen," den Bruder Epaphroditus zu euch zu "senden," der mein Gehilfe und Mitstreiter und euer Gesandter und meiner Notdurft Diener ist;

For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.

But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.

I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me.

And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon.

But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs.

그가 너희 무리를 懇切(간절)히 思慕(사모)하고 自己(자기) 病(병)든 것을 너희가 들은 줄을 알고 甚(심)히 근심한지라

저가 病(병)들어 죽게 되었으나 하나님이 저를 矜恤(긍휼)히 여기셨고 저뿐 아니라 또 나를 矜恤(긍휼)히 여기사 내 근심 위에 근심을 免(면)하게 하셨느니라

그러므로 내가 더욱 急(급)히 저를 보낸 것은 너희로 저를 다시 보고 기뻐하게 하며 내 근심도 덜려 함이니

이러므로 너희가 ^ㅍ主(주) 안에서 모든 기쁨으로 저를 迎接(영접)하고 또 ^ㅎ이와 같은 者(자)들을 尊貴(존귀)히 여기라

저가 ^ㅏ그리스도의 일을 爲(위)하여 죽기에 이르러도 自己(자기) 목숨을 돌아보지 아니한 것은 ^ㅑ나를 섬기는 너희의 일에 不足(부족)함을 채우려 함이니라

sintemal er nach euch allen Verlangen hatte und war hoch "bekümmert," darum daß ihr gehört "hattet," daß er krank war gewesen.

Und er war "todkrank," aber Gott hat sich über ihn erbarmt; nicht allein aber über "ihn," sondern auch über "mich," auf daß ich nicht eine Traurigkeit über die andern hätte.

Ich habe ihn aber desto eilender "gesandt," auf daß ihr ihn seht und wieder fröhlich werdet und ich auch der Traurigkeit weniger habe.

So nehmet ihn nun auf in dem HERRN mit allen Freuden und habt solche Leute in Ehren.

Denn um des Werkes Christi willen ist er dem Tode so nahe "gekommen," da er sein Leben gering "bedachte," auf daß er mir diente an eurer Statt.

For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill.

Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow.

Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety.

Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him,

because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me.
