1. 여룹바알의 아들 아비멜렉이 세겜에 가서 ^ㅂ그 어미의 兄弟(형제)에게 이르러 그들과 外祖父(외조부)의 온 家族(가족)에게 말하여 가로되
   
2. 請(청)하노니 너희는 세겜 사람들의 귀에 말하라 여룹바알의 아들 ^ㅅ七十人(칠십인)이 다 너희를 다스림과 한 사람이 너희를 다스림이 어느 것이 너희에게 나으냐 또 나는 너희의 ^ㅇ骨肉之親(골육지친)임을 생각하라
   
3. 그 어미의 兄弟(형제)들이 그를 爲(위)하여 이 모든 말을 온 세겜 사람들의 귀에 告(고)하매 그들의 마음이 아비멜렉에게로 기울어서 말하기를 ^ㅈ그는 우리 兄弟(형제)라 하고
   
4. ^ㅊ바알브릿 廟(묘)에서 銀(은) 七十個(칠십개)를 내어 그에게 주매 아비멜렉이 그것으로 ^ㅋ放蕩(방탕)하고 輕薄(경박)한 類(유)를 사서 自己(자기)를 좇게 하고
   
5. ^ㅌ오브라에 있는 그 아비의 집으로 가서 ^ㅍ여룹바알의 아들 곧 自己(자기) 兄弟(형제) 七十人(칠십인)을 한 磐石(반석) 위에서 죽였으되 오직 여룹바알의 말째 아들 요담은 스스로 숨었으므로 남으니라
   

1. Abimelech "aber," der Sohn "Jerubbaals," ging hin zu Sichem zu den Brüdern seiner Mutter und redete mit ihnen und mit dem ganzen Geschlecht des Vaterhauses seiner Mutter und sprach:
   
2. Redet doch vor den Ohren aller Männer zu Sichem: was ist euch "besser," daß siebzig "Männer," alle Kinder "Jerubbaals," über euch Herren "seien," oder daß ein Mann über euch Herr sei? Gedenkt auch "dabei," daß ich euer Gebein und Fleisch bin.
   
3. Da redeten die Brüder seiner Mutter von ihm alle diese Worte vor den Ohren aller Männer zu Sichem. Und ihr Herz neigte sich Abimelech nach; denn sie gedachten: Er ist unser Bruder.
   
4. Und sie gaben ihm siebzig Silberlinge aus dem Haus Baal-Beriths. Und Abimelech dingte damit "lose," leichtfertige "Männer," die ihm nachfolgten.
   
5. Und er kam in seines Vaters Haus gen Ophra und erwürgte seine "Brüder," die Kinder "Jerubbaals," siebzig "Mann," auf einem Stein. Es blieb aber übrig "Jotham," der jüngste Sohn Jerubbaals; denn er war versteckt.
   

1. Abimelech son of Jerub-Baal went to his mother's brothers in Shechem and said to them and to all his mother's clan,
   
2. "Ask all the citizens of Shechem, 'Which is better for you: to have all seventy of Jerub-Baal's sons rule over you, or just one man?' Remember, I am your flesh and blood."
   
3. When the brothers repeated all this to the citizens of Shechem, they were inclined to follow Abimelech, for they said, "He is our brother."
   
4. They gave him seventy shekels of silver from the temple of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech used it to hire reckless adventurers, who became his followers.
   
5. He went to his father's home in Ophrah and on one stone murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerub-Baal. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerub-Baal, escaped by hiding.
   

6. 세겜 모든 사람과 ^ㅎ밀로 모든 族屬(족속)이 모여 가서 세겜에 있는 기둥 상수리나무 아래서 아비멜렉으로 王(왕)을 삼으니라
   
7. 或(혹)이 요담에게 그 일을 告(고)하매 요담이 ^ㅏ그리심山(산) 꼭대기로 가서 서서 소리를 높이 외쳐 그들에게 이르되 세겜 사람들아 나를 들으라 그리하여야 하나님이 너희를 들으시리라
   
8. 하루는 ^ㅑ나무들이 나가서 기름을 부어 王(왕)을 삼으려 하여 橄欖(감람)나무에게 이르되 ^ㅓ너는 우리 王(왕)이 되라 하매
   
9. 橄欖(감람)나무가 그들에게 이르되 나의 기름은 하나님과 사람을 榮華(영화)롭게 하나니 내가 어찌 그것을 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 搖動(요동)하리요 한지라
   
10. 나무들이 또 無花果(무화과)나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 王(왕)이 되라 하매
    

6. Und es versammelten sich alle Männer von Sichem und das ganze Haus "Millo," gingen hin und machten Abimelech zum König bei der hohen "Eiche," die zu Sichem steht.
   
7. Da das angesagt ward dem "Jotham," ging er hin und trat auf die Höhe des Berges Garizim und hob auf seine "Stimme," rief und sprach zu ihnen: Hört "mich," ihr Männer zu "Sichem," daß euch Gott auch höre! {~}
   
8. Die Bäume gingen "hin," daß sie einen König über sich "salbten," und sprachen zu dem Ölbaum: Sei unser König!
   
9. Aber der Ölbaum antwortete ihnen: Soll ich meine Fettigkeit "lassen," die "beide," Götter und "Menschen," an mir "preisen," und "hingehen," daß ich schwebe über den Bäumen?
   
10. Da sprachen die Bäume zum Feigenbaum: Komm du und sei unser König!
    

6. Then all the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo gathered beside the great tree at the pillar in Shechem to crown Abimelech king.
   
7. When Jotham was told about this, he climbed up on the top of Mount Gerizim and shouted to them, "Listen to me, citizens of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.
   
8. One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, 'Be our king.'
   
9. "But the olive tree answered, 'Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and men are honored, to hold sway over the trees?'
   
10. "Next, the trees said to the fig tree, 'Come and be our king.'
    

11. 無花果(무화과)나무가 그들에게 이르되 나의 단것, 나의 아름다운 實果(실과)를 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 搖動(요동)하리요 한지라
    
12. 나무들이 또 葡萄(포도)나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 王(왕)이 되라 하매
    
13. 葡萄(포도)나무가 그들에게 이르되 하나님과 사람을 기쁘게 하는 나의 ^ㅕ새 술을 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 搖動(요동)하리요 한지라
    
14. 이에 모든 나무가 가시나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 王(왕)이 되라 하매
    
15. 가시나무가 나무들에게 이르되 너희가 참으로 내게 기름을 부어 너희 王(왕)을 삼겠거든 와서 ^ㅗ내 그늘에 避(피)하라 그리하지 아니하면 ^ㅛ불이 가시나무에서 나와서 ^ㅜ레바논의 柏香木(백향목)을 사를 것이니라 하였느니라
    

11. Aber der Feigenbaum sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich meine Süßigkeit und meine gute Frucht lassen und "hingehen," daß ich über den Bäumen schwebe?
    
12. Da sprachen die Bäume zum Weinstock: Komm du und sei unser König!
    
13. Aber der Weinstock sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich meinen Most "lassen," der Götter und Menschen fröhlich "macht," und "hingehen," daß ich über den Bäumen schwebe?
    
14. Da sprachen die Bäume zum Dornbusch: Komm du und sei unser König!
    
15. Und der Dornbusch sprach zu den Bäumen: Ist's "wahr," daß ihr mich zum König salbt über "euch," so kommt und vertraut euch unter meinen Schatten; wo "nicht," so gehe Feuer aus dem Dornbusch und verzehre die Zedern Libanons.
    

11. "But the fig tree replied, 'Should I give up my fruit, so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?'
    
12. "Then the trees said to the vine, 'Come and be our king.'
    
13. "But the vine answered, 'Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and men, to hold sway over the trees?'
    
14. "Finally all the trees said to the thornbush, 'Come and be our king.'
    
15. "The thornbush said to the trees, 'If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!'
    

16. 이제 너희가 아비멜렉을 세워 王(왕)을 삼았으니 너희 行(행)한것이 果然(과연) 眞實(진실)하고 義(의)로우냐 이것이 ^ㅠ여룹바알과 그 집을 善待(선대)함이냐 이것이 그 ^으行(행)한대로 그에게 報答(보답)함이냐
    
17. 우리 아버지가 前(전)에 죽음을 무릅쓰고 너희를 爲(위)하여 싸워 미디안의 손에서 너희를 건져내었거늘
    
18. 너희가 오늘날 일어나서 우리 아버지의 집을 쳐서 ^이그 아들 七十人(칠십인)을 한 磐石(반석) 위에서 죽이고 그 女(여)종의 아들 ^ㅐ아비멜렉이 ^ㄱ너희 兄弟(형제)가 된다고 그를 세워 세겜 사람의 王(왕)을 삼았도다
    
19. 萬一(만일) 너희가 오늘날 여룹바알과 그 집을 待接(대접)한 것이 眞實(진실)과 義(의)로움이면 너희가 ^ㄴ아비멜렉을 因(인)하여 즐길 것이요 아비멜렉도 너희를 因(인)하여 즐기려니와
    
20. 그렇지 아니하면 ^ㄷ아비멜렉에게서 불이 나와서 세겜 사람들과 밀로 族屬(족속)을 사를 것이요 세겜 사람들과 밀로 族屬(족속)에게서도 불이 나와서 아비멜렉을 사를 것이니라 하고
    

16. Habt ihr nun recht und redlich "getan," daß ihr Abimelech zum König gemacht habt; und habt ihr wohl getan an Jerubbaal und an seinem Hause und habt ihm "getan," wie er um euch verdient hat{~}
    
17. (denn mein Vater hat gestritten um euretwillen und seine Seele dahingeworfen von "sich," daß er euch errettete von der Midianiter Hand;
    
18. und ihr lehnt euch auf heute wider meines Vaters Haus und erwürgt seine "Kinder," siebzig "Mann," auf einem Stein und macht euch "Abimelech," seiner Magd "Sohn," zum König über die Männer zu "Sichem," weil er euer Bruder ist);
    
19. und habt ihr nun recht und redlich gehandelt an Jerubbaal und an seinem Hause an diesem Tage: so seid fröhlich über Abimelech und er sei fröhlich über euch;
    
20. wo "nicht," so gehe Feuer aus von Abimelech und verzehre die Männer zu Sichem und das Haus "Millo," und gehe auch Feuer aus von den Männern zu Sichem und vom Haus Millo und verzehre Abimelech.
    

16. "Now if you have acted honorably and in good faith when you made Abimelech king, and if you have been fair to Jerub-Baal and his family, and if you have treated him as he deserves--
    
17. and to think that my father fought for you, risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian
    
18. (but today you have revolted against my father's family, murdered his seventy sons on a single stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his slave girl, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is your brother)--
    
19. if then you have acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub-Baal and his family today, may Abimelech be your joy, and may you be his, too!
    
20. But if you have not, let fire come out from Abimelech and consume you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and let fire come out from you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and consume Abimelech!"
    

21. 요담이 그 兄弟(형제) 아비멜렉을 두려워하여 달려 逃亡(도망)하여 ^ㄹ브엘로 가서 거기 居(거)하니라
    
22. 아비멜렉이 이스라엘을 다스린지 三年(삼년)에
    
23. ^ㅁ하나님이 아비멜렉과 세겜 사람들 사이에 惡(악)한 神(신)을 보내시매 세겜 사람들이 ^ㅂ아비멜렉을 背叛(배반)하였으니
    
24. ^ㅅ이는 여룹바알의 아들 七十人(칠십인)에게 行(행)한 暴虐(포학)한 일을 갚되 그 兄弟(형제)를 죽여 피 흘린 罪(죄)를 아비멜렉과 아비멜렉의 손을 도와서 그 兄弟(형제)를 죽이게 한 세겜 사람에게로 돌아가게 하심이라
    
25. 세겜 사람들이 山(산)들 꼭대기에 사람을 埋伏(매복)하여 아비멜렉을 엿보게 하고 무릇 그 길로 지나는 者(자)를 다 劫奪(겁탈)하게 하니 或(혹)이 그것을 아비멜렉에게 告(고)하니라
    

21. Und Jotham floh vor seinem Bruder Abimelech und entwich und ging gen Beer und wohnte daselbst.
    
22. Als nun Abimelech drei Jahre über Israel geherrscht "hatte,"
    
23. sandte Gott einen bösen Willen zwischen Abimelech und den Männern zu Sichem. Und die Männer zu Sichem wurden Abimelech "untreu,"
    
24. auf daß der "Frevel," an den siebzig Söhnen Jerubbaals "begangen," und ihr Blut käme auf "Abimelech," ihren "Bruder," der sie erwürgt "hatte," und auf die Männer zu "Sichem," die ihm seine Hand dazu gestärkt "hatten," daß er seine Brüder erwürgte.
    
25. Und die Männer zu Sichem stellten einen Hinterhalt auf den Spitzen der Berge und beraubten "alle," die auf der Straße zu ihnen wandelten. Und es ward Abimelech angesagt.
    

21. Then Jotham fled, escaping to Beer, and he lived there because he was afraid of his brother Abimelech.
    
22. After Abimelech had governed Israel three years,
    
23. God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the citizens of Shechem, who acted treacherously against Abimelech.
    
24. God did this in order that the crime against Jerub-Baal's seventy sons, the shedding of their blood, might be avenged on their brother Abimelech and on the citizens of Shechem, who had helped him murder his brothers.
    
25. In opposition to him these citizens of Shechem set men on the hilltops to ambush and rob everyone who passed by, and this was reported to Abimelech.
    

26. 에벳의 아들 가알이 그 兄弟(형제)로 더불어 세겜에 이르니 세겜 사람들이 그를 依賴(의뢰)하니라
    
27. 그들이 밭에 가서 葡萄(포도)를 거두어다가 밟아 짜서 宴會(연회)를 排設(배설)하고 ^ㅇ그 神堂(신당)에 들어가서 먹고 마시며 아비멜렉을 詛呪(저주)하니
    
28. 에벳의 아들 가알이 가로되 ^ㅈ아비멜렉은 누구며 세겜은 누구기에 우리가 아비멜렉을 섬기리요 그가 여룹바알의 아들이 아니냐 그 長官(장관)은 스불이 아니냐 차라리 ^ㅊ세겜의 아비 하몰의 後孫(후손)을 섬길 것이라 우리가 어찌 아비멜렉을 섬기리요
    
29. 아하, 이 百姓(백성)이 내 手下(수하)에 있었더면 내가 아비멜렉을 除(제)하였으리라 하고 아비멜렉에게 네 軍隊(군대)를 더하고 나오라고 말하니라
    
30. 그 城邑(성읍) 長官(장관) 스불이 에벳의 아들 가알의 말을 듣고 怒(노)하여
    

26. Es kam aber "Gaal," der Sohn "Ebeds," und seine Brüder und zogen zu Sichem ein. Und die Männer von Sichem verließen sich auf ihn
    
27. und zogen heraus aufs Feld und lasen ab ihre Weinberge und kelterten und machten einen Tanz und gingen in ihres Gottes Haus und aßen und tranken und fluchten dem Abimelech.
    
28. Und "Gaal," der Sohn "Ebeds," sprach: Wer ist "Abimelech," und was ist "Sichem," daß wir ihm dienen sollten? Ist er nicht Jerubbaals Sohn und hat "Sebul," seinen "Knecht," hergesetzt? Dienet den Leuten "Hemors," des Vaters Sichems! Warum sollten wir jenen dienen?
    
29. Wollte "Gott," das Volk wäre unter meiner "Hand," daß ich Abimelech vertriebe! Und es ward Abimelech gesagt: Mehre dein Heer und zieh aus!
    
30. Denn "Sebul," der Oberste in der "Stadt," da er die Worte "Gaals," des Sohnes "Ebeds," "hörte," ergrimmte er in seinem Zorn
    

26. Now Gaal son of Ebed moved with his brothers into Shechem, and its citizens put their confidence in him.
    
27. After they had gone out into the fields and gathered the grapes and trodden them, they held a festival in the temple of their god. While they were eating and drinking, they cursed Abimelech.
    
28. Then Gaal son of Ebed said, "Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should be subject to him? Isn't he Jerub-Baal's son, and isn't Zebul his deputy? Serve the men of Hamor, Shechem's father! Why should we serve Abimelech?
    
29. If only this people were under my command! Then I would get rid of him. I would say to Abimelech, 'Call out your whole army!'"
    
30. When Zebul the governor of the city heard what Gaal son of Ebed said, he was very angry.
    

31. 使者(사자)를 아비멜렉에게 가만히 보내어 가로되 보소서 에벳의 아들 가알과 그 兄弟(형제)가 세겜에 이르러 城邑(성읍) 무리를 衝動(충동)하여 當身(당신)을 對敵(대적)하게 하나니
    
32. 當身(당신)은 當身(당신)을 좇은 百姓(백성)으로 더불어 밤에 일어나서 밭에 埋伏(매복)하였다가
    
33. 아침 해 뜰 때에 當身(당신)은 일찌기 일어나 이 城邑(성읍)을 掩襲(엄습)하면 가알과 그를 좇은 百姓(백성)이 나와서 當身(당신)을 對敵(대적)하리니 ^ㅋ當身(당신)은 機會(기회)를 보아 그들에게 行(행)하소서
    
34. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 모든 百姓(백성)이 밤에 일어나 네 떼로 나눠 세겜을 對(대)하여 埋伏(매복)하였더니
    
35. 에벳의 아들 가알이 나와서 城邑(성읍) 門(문) 入口(입구)에 설 때에 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 百姓(백성)이 埋伏(매복)하였던 곳에서 일어난지라
    

31. und sandte Botschaft zu Abimelech heimlich und ließ ihm sagen: "Siehe," "Gaal," der Sohn "Ebeds," und seine Brüder sind gen Sichem gekommen und machen dir die Stadt aufrührerisch.
    
32. So mache dich nun auf bei der "Nacht," du und dein "Volk," das bei dir "ist," und mache einen Hinterhalt auf sie im Felde.
    
33. Und des "Morgens," wenn die Sonne "aufgeht," so mache dich früh auf und überfalle die Stadt. Und wo er und das "Volk," das bei ihm "ist," zu dir "hinauszieht," so tue mit "ihm," wie es deine Hand findet.
    
34. Abimelech stand auf bei der Nacht und alles "Volk," das bei ihm "war," und hielt auf Sichem mit vier Haufen.
    
35. Und "Gaal," der Sohn "Ebeds," zog heraus und trat vor die Tür an der Stadt Tor. Aber Abimelech machte sich auf aus dem Hinterhalt samt dem "Volk," das mit ihm war.
    

31. Under cover he sent messengers to Abimelech, saying, "Gaal son of Ebed and his brothers have come to Shechem and are stirring up the city against you.
    
32. Now then, during the night you and your men should come and lie in wait in the fields.
    
33. In the morning at sunrise, advance against the city. When Gaal and his men come out against you, do whatever your hand finds to do."
    
34. So Abimelech and all his troops set out by night and took up concealed positions near Shechem in four companies.
    
35. Now Gaal son of Ebed had gone out and was standing at the entrance to the city gate just as Abimelech and his soldiers came out from their hiding place.
    

36. 가알이 그 百姓(백성)을 보고 스불에게 이르되 보라, 百姓(백성)이 ^ㅌ山(산) 꼭대기에서부터 내려오는도다 스불이 그에게 對答(대답)하되 네가 山(산) 그림자를 사람으로 보았느니라
    
37. 가알이 다시 말하여 가로되 보라, 百姓(백성)이 ^ㅍ밭 가운데로 좇아 내려오고 또 한 떼는 므오느님 상수리나무 길로 좇아 오는도다
    
38. 스불이 그에게 이르되 네가 前(전)에 말하기를 ^ㅎ아비멜렉이 누군데 우리가 그를 섬기리요 하던 그 입이 이제 어디 있느냐 이가 너의 업신여기던 百姓(백성)이 아니냐 請(청)하노니 이제 나가서 그들과 싸우라
    
39. 가알이 세겜 사람들의 앞서 나가서 아비멜렉과 싸우다가
    
40. 아비멜렉에게 쫓겨 그 앞에서 逃亡(도망)하였고 傷(상)하여 엎드러진 者(자)가 많아서 城門(성문) 入口(입구)까지 이르렀더라
    

36. Da nun Gaal das Volk "sah," sprach er zu Sebul: "Siehe," da kommt ein Volk von der Höhe des Gebirges hernieder. Sebul aber sprach zu Ihm: Du siehst die Schatten der Berge für Leute an.
    
37. Gaal redete noch mehr und sprach: "Siehe," ein Volk kommt hernieder aus der Mitte des "Landes," und ein Haufe kommt auf dem Wege zur Zaubereiche.
    
38. Da sprach Sebul zu ihm: Wo ist nun hier dein "Maul," das da sagte: Wer ist "Abimelech," daß wir ihm dienen sollten? Ist das nicht das "Volk," das du verachtet hast? Zieh nun aus und streite mit ihm! {~}
    
39. Gaal zog aus vor den Männern zu Sichem her und stritt mit Abimelech.
    
40. Aber Abimelech jagte "ihn," daß er floh vor ihm; und fielen viel Erschlagene bis an die Tür des Tors.
    

36. When Gaal saw them, he said to Zebul, "Look, people are coming down from the tops of the mountains!" Zebul replied, "You mistake the shadows of the mountains for men."
    
37. But Gaal spoke up again: "Look, people are coming down from the center of the land, and a company is coming from the direction of the soothsayers' tree."
    
38. Then Zebul said to him, "Where is your big talk now, you who said, 'Who is Abimelech that we should be subject to him?' Aren't these the men you ridiculed? Go out and fight them!"
    
39. So Gaal led out the citizens of Shechem and fought Abimelech.
    
40. Abimelech chased him, and many fell wounded in the flight--all the way to the entrance to the gate.
    

41. 아비멜렉은 아루마에 居(거)하고 스불은 가알과 그 兄弟(형제)를 쫓아내어 세겜에 居(거)하지 못하게 하더니
    
42. 이튿날 百姓(백성)이 밭으로 나오매 或(혹)이 그것을 아비멜렉에게 告(고)하니라
    
43. 아비멜렉이 自己(자기) 百姓(백성)을 세 떼로 나눠 밭에 埋伏(매복)하였더니 百姓(백성)이 城(성)에서 나오는 것을 보고 일어나서 그들을 치되
    
44. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 떼는 ^ㅏ앞으로 달려가서 城門(성문) 入口(입구)에 서고 그 나머지 두 떼는 밭에 있는 모든 者(자)에게 달려들어 그들을 죽이니
    
45. 아비멜렉이 그날 終日(종일)토록 그 城(성)을 쳐서 畢竟(필경)은 取(취)하고 거기 있는 百姓(백성)을 죽이며 ^ㅑ그 城(성)을 헐고 ^ㅓ소금을 뿌리니라
    

41. Und Abimelech blieb zu Aruma. Sebul aber verjagte den Gaal und seine "Brüder," die zu Sichem nicht durften bleiben.
    
42. Am Morgen aber ging das Volk heraus aufs Feld. Da das Abimelech ward "angesagt,"
    
43. nahm er das Kriegsvolk und teilte es in drei Haufen und machte einen Hinterhalt auf sie im Felde. Als er nun "sah," daß das Volk aus der Stadt "ging," erhob er sich über sie und schlug sie. {~}
    
44. Abimelech aber und die "Haufen," die bei ihm "waren," überfielen sie und traten an die Tür des Stadttors; und zwei der Haufen überfielen "alle," die auf dem Felde "waren," und schlugen sie.
    
45. Da stritt Abimelech wider die Stadt denselben Tag und gewann sie und erwürgte das "Volk," das darin "war," und zerbrach die Stadt und säte Salz darauf.
    

41. Abimelech stayed in Arumah, and Zebul drove Gaal and his brothers out of Shechem.
    
42. The next day the people of Shechem went out to the fields, and this was reported to Abimelech.
    
43. So he took his men, divided them into three companies and set an ambush in the fields. When he saw the people coming out of the city, he rose to attack them.
    
44. Abimelech and the companies with him rushed forward to a position at the entrance to the city gate. Then two companies rushed upon those in the fields and struck them down.
    
45. All that day Abimelech pressed his attack against the city until he had captured it and killed its people. Then he destroyed the city and scattered salt over it.
    

46. 세겜 望臺(망대)의 사람들이 이를 듣고 ^ㅕ엘브릿 神堂(신당)의 ^ㅗ保障(보장)으로 들어갔더니
    
47. 세겜 望臺(망대)의 모든 사람의 모인 것이 아비멜렉에게 들리매
    
48. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 모든 百姓(백성)이 ^ㅛ살몬山(산)에 오르고 아비멜렉이 손에 도끼를 들고 나무가지를 찍고 그것을 가져 自己(자기) 어깨에 메고 좇은 百姓(백성)에게 이르되 너희는 나의 行(행)하는 것을 보나니 빨리 나와 같이 行(행)하라 하니
    
49. 모든 百姓(백성)도 各各(각각) 나무가지를 찍어서 아비멜렉을 좇아 ^ㅜ保障(보장)에 대어 놓고 그곳에 불을 놓으매 세겜 望臺(망대)에 있는 사람들도 다 죽었으니 男女(남녀)가 大略(대략) 一千名(일천명)이었더라
    
50. 아비멜렉이 데베스에 가서 데베스를 對(대)하여 陣(진) 치고 그것을 取(취)하였더니
    

46. Da das hörten alle Männer des Turms zu "Sichem," gingen sie in die Festung des Hauses des Gottes Berith.
    
47. Da das Abimelech "hörte," daß sich alle Männer des Turms zu Sichem versammelt "hatten,"
    
48. ging er auf den Berg Zalmon mit allem seinem "Volk," das bei ihm war und nahm eine Axt in seine Hand und hieb einen Ast von den Bäumen und legte ihn auf seine Achsel und sprach zu allem "Volk," das mit ihm war: Was ihr gesehen "habt," daß ich "tue," das tut auch ihr eilend wie ich.
    
49. Da hieb alles Volk ein jeglicher einen Ast ab und folgten Abimelech nach und legten sie an die Festung und steckten's an mit "Feuer," daß auch alle Männer des Turms zu Sichem "starben," bei tausend Mann und Weib.
    
50. Abimelech aber zog gen Thebez und belagerte es und gewann es.
    

46. On hearing this, the citizens in the tower of Shechem went into the stronghold of the temple of El-Berith.
    
47. When Abimelech heard that they had assembled there,
    
48. he and all his men went up Mount Zalmon. He took an ax and cut off some branches, which he lifted to his shoulders. He ordered the men with him, "Quick! Do what you have seen me do!"
    
49. So all the men cut branches and followed Abimelech. They piled them against the stronghold and set it on fire over the people inside. So all the people in the tower of Shechem, about a thousand men and women, also died.
    
50. Next Abimelech went to Thebez and besieged it and captured it.
    

51. 城中(성중)에 堅固(견고)한 望臺(망대)가 있으므로 그 城(성) 百姓(백성)의 男女(남녀)가 모두 그리로 逃亡(도망)하여 들어가서 門(문)을 잠그고 望臺(망대) 꼭대기로 올라간지라
    
52. 아비멜렉이 망대 앞에 이르러서 치며 망대의 문에 가까이 나아가서 그것을 불 사르려 하더니
    
53. ^ㅠ한 女人(녀인)이 맷돌 윗짝을 아비멜렉의 머리 위에 내려던져 그 頭骨(두골)을 깨뜨리니
    
54. ^으아비멜렉이 自己(자기)의 兵器(병기) 잡은 少年(소년)을 急(급)히 불러 그에게 이르되 너는 칼을 빼어 나를 죽이라 사람들이 나를 가리켜 이르기를 그가 女人(녀인)에게 죽었다 할까 하노라 少年(소년)이 찌르매 그가 곧 죽은지라
    
55. 이스라엘 사람들이 아비멜렉의 죽은 것을 보고 各各(각각) 自己(자기) 處所(처소)로 떠나갔더라
    

51. Es war aber ein starker Turm mitten in der Stadt. Auf den flohen alle Männer und Weiber und alle Bürger der Stadt und schlossen hinter sich zu und stiegen auf das Dach des Turms.
    
52. Da kam Abimelech zum Turm und stritt dawider und nahte sich zur Tür des "Turms," daß er ihn mit Feuer verbrannte.
    
53. Aber ein Weib warf einen Mühlstein Abimelech auf den Kopf und zerbrach ihm den Schädel.
    
54. Da rief Abimelech eilend dem "Diener," der seine Waffen "trug," und sprach zu ihm: Zieh dein Schwert aus und töte "mich," daß man nicht von mir sage: Ein Weib hat ihn erwürgt. Da durchstach ihn sein "Diener," und er starb.
    
55. Da aber die "Israeliten," die mit ihm "waren," "sahen," daß Abimelech tot "war," ging ein jeglicher an seinen Ort.
    

51. Inside the city, however, was a strong tower, to which all the men and women--all the people of the city--fled. They locked themselves in and climbed up on the tower roof.
    
52. Abimelech went to the tower and stormed it. But as he approached the entrance to the tower to set it on fire,
    
53. a woman dropped an upper millstone on his head and cracked his skull.
    
54. Hurriedly he called to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword and kill me, so that they can't say, 'A woman killed him.'" So his servant ran him through, and he died.
    
55. When the Israelites saw that Abimelech was dead, they went home.
    

56. 아비멜렉이 그 兄弟(형제) 七十人(칠십인)을 죽여 自己(자기) 아비에게 行(행)한 惡(악)을 하나님이 ^이이같이 갚으셨고
    
57. 또 세겜 사람들의 모든 惡(악)을 하나님이 그들의 머리에 갚으셨으니 여룹바알의 아들 ^ㅐ요담의 詛呪(저주)가 그들에게 應(응)하니라
    

56. Also bezahlte Gott Abimelech das "Übel," das er an seinem Vater getan "hatte," da er seine siebzig Brüder erwürgte;
    
57. desgleichen alles Übel der Männer Sichems vergalt ihnen Gott auf ihren "Kopf," und es kam über sie der Fluch "Jothams," des Sohnes Serubbaals.
    

56. Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimelech had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.
    
57. God also made the men of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them.
