Werden sie aber sagen: Kommt zu uns herauf! so wollen wir zu ihnen "hinaufsteigen," so hat sie uns der HERR in unsre Hand gegeben. Und das soll uns zum Zeichen sein. {~}

Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, "Come, let's go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few."

"Do all that you have in mind," his armor-bearer said. "Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul."

Jonathan said, "Come, then; we will cross over toward the men and let them see us.

If they say to us, 'Wait there until we come to you,' we will stay where we are and not go up to them.

But if they say, 'Come up to us,' we will climb up, because that will be our sign that the LORD has given them into our hands."

둘이 다 블레셋 사람의 部隊(부대)에게 보이매 블레셋 사람이 가로되 보라, 히브리 사람이 그 ^ㅁ숨었던 구멍에서 나온다 하고

그 部隊(부대) 사람들이 요나단과 그 兵器(병기) 든 者(자)를 對(대)하여 가로되 우리에게로 올라오라 너희에게 한 일을 보이리라 한지라 요나단이 自己(자기) 兵器(병기)든 者(자)에게 이르되 나를 따라 올라오라 여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 붙이셨느니라 하고

요나단이 손발로 붙잡고 올라갔고 그 兵器(병기)든 者(자)도 따랐더라 블레셋 사람들이 요나단 앞에서 엎드러지매 兵器(병기)든 者(자)가 따라가며 죽였으니

요나단과 그 兵器(병기)든 者(자)가 半日耕(반일경) 地段(지단)안에서 처음으로 屠戮(도륙)한 者(자)가 二十人(이십인) 假量(가량)이라

들에 있는 陣(진)과 모든 百姓(백성) 中(중)에 떨림이 일어났고 部隊(부대)와 ^ㅂ擄略軍(노략군)들도 떨었으며 땅도 震動(진동)하였으니 이는 ^ㅅ큰 떨림이었더라

Da sie nun der Philister Wache beide ins Gesicht "kamen," sprachen die Philister: "Siehe," die Hebräer sind aus ihren Löchern "gegangen," darin sie sich verkrochen hatten.

Und die Männer der Wache antworteten Jonathan und seinem Waffenträger und sprachen: Kommt herauf zu "uns," so wollen wir's euch wohl lehren! Da sprach Jonathan zu seinem Waffenträger: Steig mir nach! der HERR hat sie gegeben in die Hände Israels.

Und Jonathan kletterte mit Händen und mit Füßen hinauf und sein Waffenträger ihm nach. Da fielen sie vor Jonathan "darnieder," und sein Waffenträger würgte ihm immer "nach,"

also daß "derer," die Jonathan und sein Waffenträger zuerst "erschlug," waren bei zwanzig "Mann," beinahe auf einer halben Hufe "Acker," die ein Joch pflügt. {~}

Und es kam ein Schrecken ins Lager auf dem Felde und ins ganze Volk; die Wache und die streifenden Rotten erschraken "auch," also daß das Land erbebte; denn es war ein Schrecken von Gott. {~}

So both of them showed themselves to the Philistine outpost. "Look!" said the Philistines. "The Hebrews are crawling out of the holes they were hiding in."

The men of the outpost shouted to Jonathan and his armor-bearer, "Come up to us and we'll teach you a lesson." So Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, "Climb up after me; the LORD has given them into the hand of Israel."

Jonathan climbed up, using his hands and feet, with his armor-bearer right behind him. The Philistines fell before Jonathan, and his armor-bearer followed and killed behind him.

In that first attack Jonathan and his armor-bearer killed some twenty men in an area of about half an acre.

Then panic struck the whole army--those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties--and the ground shook. It was a panic sent by God.

베냐민 기브아에 있는 사울의 把守軍(파수군)이 바라본즉 許多(허다)한 블레셋 사람이 ^ㅇ무너져 이리저리 흩어지더라

사울이 自己(자기)와 함께 한 百姓(백성)에게 이르되 우리에게서 누가 나갔는지 點考(점고)하여 보라 하고 點考(점고)한즉 요나단과 그의 兵器(병기)든 者(자)가 없어졌더라

사울이 아히야에게 이르되 하나님의 櫃(궤)를 이리로 가져오라 하니 그 때에 하나님의 櫃(궤)가 이스라엘 子孫(자손)과 함께 있음이라

^ㅈ사울이 祭司長(제사장)에게 말할 때에 블레셋 사람의 陣(진)에 騷動(소동)이 漸漸(점점) 더한지라 사울이 祭司長(제사장)에게 이르되 네 손을 거두라 하고

사울과 그와 함께한 모든 百姓(백성)이 모여 戰場(전장)에 가서 본즉 블레셋 사람이 ^ㅊ各各(각각) 칼로 그 동무를 치므로 크게 混亂(혼란)하였더라

Und die Wächter Sauls zu Gibea-Benjamin "sahen," daß der Haufe zerrann und verlief sich und ward zerschmissen.

Saul sprach zu dem "Volk," das bei ihm war: Zählt und "seht," wer von uns sei weggegangen! Und da sei "zählten," "siehe," das war Jonathan und sein Waffenträger nicht da.

Da sprach Saul zu Ahia: Bringe die Lade Gottes! (Denn die Lade Gottes war zu der Zeit bei den Kindern Israel.)

Und da Saul noch redete mit dem "Priester," da ward das Getümmel und das Laufen in der Philister Lager größer. Und Saul sprach zum Priester: Zieh deine Hand ab! {~} {~}

Und Saul rief und alles "Volk," das mit ihm "war," und sie kamen zum Streit; und "siehe," da ging eines jeglichen Schwert wider den andern und war ein sehr großes Getümmel.

Saul's lookouts at Gibeah in Benjamin saw the army melting away in all directions.

Then Saul said to the men who were with him, "Muster the forces and see who has left us." When they did, it was Jonathan and his armor-bearer who were not there.

Saul said to Ahijah, "Bring the ark of God." (At that time it was with the Israelites.)

While Saul was talking to the priest, the tumult in the Philistine camp increased more and more. So Saul said to the priest, "Withdraw your hand."

Then Saul and all his men assembled and went to the battle. They found the Philistines in total confusion, striking each other with their swords.

^ㅋ前(전)에 블레셋 사람과 함께 하던 히브리 사람이 四方(사방)에서 블레셋 사람과 함께 와서 陣(진)에 들어왔더니 그들이 돌이켜 사울과 요나단과 함께한 이스라엘 사람과 合(합)하였고

^ㅌ에브라임 山地(산지)에 숨었던 ^ㅍ이스라엘 모든 사람도 블레셋 사람의 逃亡(도망)함을 듣고 싸우러 나와서 그들을 追擊(추격)하였더라

여호와께서 ^ㅎ그 날에 이스라엘을 救援(구원)하시므로 戰爭(전쟁)이 ^ㅏ벧아웬을 지나니라

이 날에 이스라엘 百姓(백성)이 疲困(피곤)하였으니 이는 ^ㅑ사울이 百姓(백성)에게 盟誓(맹서)시켜 警戒(경계)하여 이르기를 저녁 곧 내가 내 怨讐(원수)에게 報酬(보수)하는 때까지 아무 植物(식물)이든지 먹는 사람은 詛呪(저주)를 받을지어다 하였음이라 그러므로 百姓(백성)이 植物(식물)을 맛보지 못하고

그들이 다 수풀에 들어간즉 ^ㅓ땅에 꿀이 있더라

Auch die "Hebräer," die bisher bei den Philistern gewesen waren und mit ihnen im Lager hinaufgezogen waren "umher," taten sich zu denen von "Israel," die mit Saul und Jonathan waren. {~} {~}

Und alle Männer von "Israel," die sich auf dem Gebirge Ephraim verkrochen "hatten," da sie "hörten," daß die Philister "flohen," strichen hinter ihnen her im Streit. {~} {~}

Also half der HERR zu der Zeit Israel. Und der Streit währte bis gen Beth-Aven.

Und da die Männer Israels matt waren desselben "Tages," beschwor Saul das Volk und sprach: Verflucht sei "jedermann," wer etwas ißt zum "Abend," daß ich mich an meinen Feinden räche! Da aß das ganze Volk nichts.

Und das ganze Land kam in den Wald. Es war aber Honig auf dem Erdboden.

Those Hebrews who had previously been with the Philistines and had gone up with them to their camp went over to the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.

When all the Israelites who had hidden in the hill country of Ephraim heard that the Philistines were on the run, they joined the battle in hot pursuit.

So the LORD rescued Israel that day, and the battle moved on beyond Beth Aven.

Now the men of Israel were in distress that day, because Saul had bound the people under an oath, saying, "Cursed be any man who eats food before evening comes, before I have avenged myself on my enemies!" So none of the troops tasted food.

The entire army entered the woods, and there was honey on the ground.

百姓(백성)이 수풀로 들어갈 때에 꿀이 흐르는 것을 보고도 그들이 盟誓(맹서)를 두려워하여 손을 그 입에 대는 者(자)가 없으나

요나단은 그 아비가 盟誓(맹서)로 百姓(백성)에게 命(명)할 때에 듣지 못하였으므로 ^ㅕ손에 가진 지팡이 끝을 내밀어 꿀을 찍고 그 손을 돌이켜 입에 대매 눈이 밝아졌더라

때에 百姓(백성) 中(중) 하나가 告(고)하여 가로되 當身(당신)의 父親(부친)이 盟誓(맹서)로 百姓(백성)에게 嚴(엄)히 命(명)하여 말씀하시기를 오늘날 植物(식물)을 먹는 사람은 詛呪(저주)를 받을지어다 하셨나이다 그러므로 百姓(백성)이 ^ㅗ疲困(피곤)하였나이다

요나단이 가로되 내 父親(부친)이 이 땅으로 困難(곤난)케 하셨도다 보라, 내가 이 꿀 조금을 맛보고도 내 눈이 이렇게 밝았거든

하물며 百姓(백성)이 오늘 그 對敵(대적)에게서 奪取(탈취)하여 얻은 것을 任意(임의)로 먹었더면 블레셋 사람을 殺戮(살륙)함이 더욱 많지 아니하였겠느냐

Und da das Volk hineinkam in den "Wald," "siehe," da floß der Honig. Aber niemand tat davon mit der Hand zu seinem Munde; denn das Volk fürchtete sich vor dem Eid.

Jonathan aber hatte nicht "gehört," daß sein Vater das Volk beschworen "hatte," und reckte seinen Stab "aus," den er in seiner Hand "hatte," und tauchte mit der Spitze in den Honigseim und wandte seine Hand zu seinem Munde; da wurden sein Augen wacker. {~}

Da antwortete einer des Volks und sprach: Dein Vater hat das Volk beschworen und gesagt: Verflucht sei "jedermann," der heute etwas ißt! Und das Volk war matt geworden. {~} {~}

Da sprach Jonathan: Mein Vater hat das Land ins Unglück gebracht; "seht," wie wacker sind meine Augen "geworden," daß ich ein wenig dieses Honigs gekostet habe. {~}

Weil aber das Volk heute nicht hat dürfen essen von der Beute seiner "Feinde," die es gefunden "hat," so hat auch nun die Schlacht nicht größer werden können wider die Philister.

When they went into the woods, they saw the honey oozing out, yet no one put his hand to his mouth, because they feared the oath.

But Jonathan had not heard that his father had bound the people with the oath, so he reached out the end of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it into the honeycomb. He raised his hand to his mouth, and his eyes brightened.

Then one of the soldiers told him, "Your father bound the army under a strict oath, saying, 'Cursed be any man who eats food today!' That is why the men are faint."

Jonathan said, "My father has made trouble for the country. See how my eyes brightened when I tasted a little of this honey.

How much better it would have been if the men had eaten today some of the plunder they took from their enemies. Would not the slaughter of the Philistines have been even greater?"

그 날에 百姓(백성)이 ^ㅛ믹마스에서부터 ^ㅜ아얄론에 이르기까지 블레셋 사람을 쳤으므로 그들이 甚(심)히 疲困(피곤)한지라

百姓(백성)이 이에 ^ㅠ奪取(탈취)한 物件(물건)에 달려가서 羊(양)과 소와 송아지들을 取(취)하고 그것을 땅에서 잡아 ^으피 있는 채 먹었더니

무리가 사울에게 告(고)하여 가로되 보소서, 百姓(백성)이 고기를 피채 먹어 여호와께 犯罪(범죄)하였나이다 사울이 가로되 너희가 無信(무신)하게 行(행)하였도다 이제 큰 돌을 내게로 굴려오라 하고

또 가로되 너희는 百姓(백성) 中(중)에 흩어져 다니며 이르기를 사람은 各其(각기) 소와 各其(각기) 羊(양)을 이리로 끌어다가 잡아 먹되 피 있는 채 먹어서 여호와께 犯罪(범죄)하지 말라 하매 그 밤에 모든 百姓(백성)이 各各(각각) 自己(자기)의 소를 끌어다가 거기서 잡으니라

사울이 여호와를 爲(위)하여 ^이壇(단)을 쌓았으니 이는 그가 여호와를 爲(위)하여 처음 쌓은 壇(단)이었더라

Sie schlugen aber die Philister des Tages von Michmas bis gen Ajalon. Und das Volk ward sehr matt.

Und das Volk fiel über die Beute her und nahm Schafe und Rinder und Kälber und schlachteten auf der Erde und aßen so blutig.

Da verkündete man Saul: "Siehe," das Volk versündigt sich am "HERRN," daß es Blut ißt. Er sprach: Ihr habt übel getan; wälzt her zu mir jetzt einen großen Stein. {~}

Und Saul sprach weiter: Zerstreut euch unter das Volk und sagt "ihnen," daß ein jeglicher seinen Ochsen und sein Schaf zu mir "bringe," und schlachtet "allhier," daß ihr esset und euch nicht versündigt an dem HERRN mit dem Blutessen. Da brachte alles Volk ein jeglicher seinen Ochsen mit seiner Hand herzu des Nachts und schlachtete daselbst. {~}

Und Saul baute dem HERRN einen Altar. (Das ist der erste "Altar," den er dem HERRN baute.)

That day, after the Israelites had struck down the Philistines from Micmash to Aijalon, they were exhausted.

They pounced on the plunder and, taking sheep, cattle and calves, they butchered them on the ground and ate them, together with the blood.

Then someone said to Saul, "Look, the men are sinning against the LORD by eating meat that has blood in it." "You have broken faith," he said. "Roll a large stone over here at once."

Then he said, "Go out among the men and tell them, 'Each of you bring me your cattle and sheep, and slaughter them here and eat them. Do not sin against the LORD by eating meat with blood still in it.'" So everyone brought his ox that night and slaughtered it there.

Then Saul built an altar to the LORD; it was the first time he had done this.

사울이 가로되 우리가 밤에 블레셋 사람을 쫓아 내려가서 동틀 때까지 그들 中(중)에서 奪取(탈취)하고 한 사람도 남기지 말자 무리가 가로되 王(왕)의 所見(소견)에 좋은 대로 하소서 할 때에 ^ㅐ祭司長(제사장)이 가로되 이리로 와서 하나님께로 나아가사이다 하매

사울이 하나님께 묻자오되 내가 블레셋 사람을 쫓아 내려가리이까 主(주)께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 붙이시겠나이까 하되 ^ㄱ그 날에 對答(대답)지 아니하시는지라

사울이 가로되 ^ㄴ너희 百姓(백성)의 어른들아, 다 이리로 오라 오늘 이 罪(죄)가 뉘게 있나 알아 보자

이스라엘을 救援(구원)하신 ^ㄷ여호와의 사심으로 盟誓(맹서)하노니 ^ㄹ내 아들 요나단에게 있다 할지라도 반드시 죽으리라 하되 모든 百姓(백성) 中(중) 한 사람도 對答(대답)지 아니하매

이에 그가 온 이스라엘에게 이르되 너희는 저便(편)에 있으라 나와 내 아들 요나단은 이便(편)에 있으리라 百姓(백성)이 사울에게 말하되 王(왕)의 所見(소견)에 좋은대로 하소서 하니라

Und Saul sprach: Laßt uns hinabziehen den Philistern nach bei der Nacht und sie "berauben," bis daß es lichter Morgen "wird," daß wir niemand von ihnen übriglassen. Sie antworteten: Tue "alles," was dir gefällt. Aber der Priester sprach: Laßt uns hierher zu Gott nahen.

Und Saul fragte Gott: Soll ich hinabziehen den Philistern nach? Und willst du sie geben in Israels Hände? Aber er antwortete ihm zu der Zeit nicht.

Da sprach Saul: Laßt herzutreten alle Obersten des "Volks," und erfahret und "sehet," an welchem die Sünde sei zu dieser Zeit;

denn so wahr der HERR "lebt," der Heiland "Israels," und ob sie gleich an meinem Sohn Jonathan "wäre," so soll er sterben! Und niemand antwortete ihm aus dem ganzen Volk. {~}

Und er sprach zu dem ganzen Israel: Seid ihr auf jener Seite; ich und mein Sohn Jonathan wollen sein auf dieser Seite. Das Volk sprach: "Tue," was dir gefällt. {~} {~}

Saul said, "Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them till dawn, and let us not leave one of them alive." "Do whatever seems best to you," they replied. But the priest said, "Let us inquire of God here."

So Saul asked God, "Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you give them into Israel's hand?" But God did not answer him that day.

Saul therefore said, "Come here, all you who are leaders of the army, and let us find out what sin has been committed today.

As surely as the LORD who rescues Israel lives, even if it lies with my son Jonathan, he must die." But not one of the men said a word.

Saul then said to all the Israelites, "You stand over there; I and Jonathan my son will stand over here." "Do what seems best to you," the men replied.

이에 사울이 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 아뢰되 願(원)컨대 實狀(실상)을 보이소서 하였더니 요나단과 사울이 ^ㅁ뽑히고 百姓(백성)은 免(면)한지라

사울이 가로되 나와 내 아들 요나단 사이에 뽑으라 하였더니 요나단이 뽑히니라

사울이 요나단에게 가로되 ^ㅂ너의 行(행)한 것을 내게 告(고)하라 요나단이 告(고)하여 가로되 ^ㅅ내가 다만 내 손에 가진 지팡이 끝으로 꿀을 조금 맛보았을 뿐이오나 내가 죽을 수 밖에 없나이다

사울이 가로되 요나단아, ^ㅇ네가 반드시 죽으리라 그렇지 않으면 ^ㅈ하나님이 내게 罰(벌)을 내리시고 또 내리시기를 願(원)하노라

百姓(백성)이 사울에게 말하되 이스라엘에 이 큰 救援(구원)을 이룬 요나단이 죽겠나이까 決斷(결단)코 그렇지 아니하니이다 여호와의 사심으로 盟誓(맹서)하옵나니 ^ㅊ그의 머리털 하나도 땅에 떨어지지 아니할 것은 그가 오늘 하나님과 同事(동사)하였음이니이다 하여 요나단을 救援(구원)하여 죽지않게 하니라

Und Saul sprach zu dem "HERRN," dem Gott Israels: Schaffe Recht! Da ward Jonathan und Saul getroffen; aber das Volk ging frei aus.

Saul sprach: Werft über mich und meinen Sohn Jonathan! Da ward Jonathan getroffen.

Und Saul sprach zu Jonathan: Sage "mir," was hast du getan? Jonathan sagte es ihm und sprach: Ich habe ein wenig Honig gekostet mit dem "Stabe," den ich in meiner Hand hatte; und "siehe," ich muß darum sterben.

Da sprach Saul: Gott tue mir dies und "das," "Jonathan," du mußt des Todes sterben.

Aber das Volk sprach zu Saul: Sollte Jonathan "sterben," der ein solch großes Heil in Israel getan hat! Das sei ferne! So wahr der HERR "lebt," es soll kein Haar von seinem Haupt auf die Erde fallen; denn Gott hat's heute durch ihn getan. Also erlöste das Volk "Jonathan," daß er nicht sterben mußte.

Then Saul prayed to the LORD, the God of Israel, "Give me the right answer." And Jonathan and Saul were taken by lot, and the men were cleared.

Saul said, "Cast the lot between me and Jonathan my son." And Jonathan was taken.

Then Saul said to Jonathan, "Tell me what you have done." So Jonathan told him, "I merely tasted a little honey with the end of my staff. And now must I die?"

Saul said, "May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if you do not die, Jonathan."

But the men said to Saul, "Should Jonathan die--he who has brought about this great deliverance in Israel? Never! As surely as the LORD lives, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground, for he did this today with God's help." So the men rescued Jonathan, and he was not put to death.
